Calculator Check In - PAST DUE!
Calculators that were picked up from the school earlier this year were due back by Wednesday, April 21. If you did not drop your calculator off, please do so NO LATER than Tuesday, April 27 at 4:00 pm. You may drop off during school hours to the front office. Any calculator with charging cord that is not returned by this time will be assessed a fee of $140. This is our cost to replace. Please direct any questions to our Math Instructional Coach at TrishaLRey@katyisd.org.

STAAR Testing Coming Next Week!
Starting Monday, April 12th – we will begin collecting district devices. Please ensure your child is completely logged off and the device and matching cord are cleared of debris and bundled in a Ziploc bag. If your child needs the device for school, please feel free to return by May 27th. If the device is damaged, a fee will be assessed in KAMS. Notice – Junior High Algebra I Placement for 2021-2022
Students who are enrolled in 7th Grade Math KAP or KAP/GT, who make a 70 or better course average for the year, will be enrolled in Algebra I in the eighth grade.
Students who are enrolled in 7th Grade Math KAP or KAP/GT, with a course average of below 70 for the year, wishing to take Algebra I in eighth grade, must register to take the Credit by Exam for Eighth Grade Mathematics. A score of 80% or better is required on the Credit by Exam for eligibility for Algebra I in eighth grade. The deadline for requesting CBE is May 7, 2021 for the July 13-17 testing window. In the next few weeks, more information will be coming to students who may be in this situation.
Students who are enrolled in 7th grade Academic Mathematics who wish to accelerate their math instruction may take advantage of the district’s Credit by Exam (CBE) process for the 8th grade curriculum. Students must score 80% or better on the CBE to access Algebra I in eighth grade. The deadline for requesting CBE is May 7, 2021 for the July 13-17 testing window.

Spring Final Exam Schedule
'21-'22 GIRLS ATHLETICS INFORMATION
INCOMING 7TH GRADERS:
1. Participation in the Spartan Athletic Prep Program (6th-grade pre athletics during the PE class period)
2. An athletic evaluation
-Evaluations start during the PE class period on April 22
-KVA students & move-ins will be evaluated in August in conjunction with Volleyball Tryouts
**If your daughter does not complete the evaluations or is not selected for the athletic class period, she will start the year in PE. She can still try out for a sport and if she makes a team (volleyball or basketball) she will be moved into athletics.
INCOMING 8TH GRADERS:
-Those athletes currently in the athletic class period will remain in the athletic class period for their 8th-grade year as long as they are in good standing.
-Move-Ins will be evaluated in August in conjunction with Volleyball Tryouts.
*All '21-'22 athletes should have all the required online paperwork (including a physical dated after May 1st) complete by May 30, 2021.

ESL STAAR Tutorials (additional support)
SLJH ESL Students and Parents,
All currently served and monitored students are eligible to attend additional STAAR tutorials at SLJH or via zoom for all STAAR tested subjects. Students will need a permission slip in order to attend these tutorials and their Social Studies teachers will be handing them out in class and they are attached to this email.
Students do NOT have to attend all subjects/dates as this is optional additional support.
Face to face students will be dropped off at the front doors at 7:10am and tutorials will end at 8:10, they will go to the gymnasium until they are dismissed to first period.
KVA students can join the zoom links on the permissions slips from 7:10am to 8:10am.

Speech and Debate Club-Congratulations!
This has been a challenging year for the SLJH Spartan Speech and Debate club. Despite many setbacks and tournament cancellations, we hosted our own virtual tournament! Thank you to the officers and all the members that participated. Remember to Think. Speak. Listen and Don't Hate It, Just Debate It!

Student Withdrawal Information
Please complete the Katy ISD Leaver Document below and return to the Registrar (TonyaLBrickey@katyisd.org) as notice of your withdrawal. Please attach a photo ID to the email when submitting the Leaver Document
Students withdrawing from Seven Lakes Junior High should give the registrar at least one-week advanced notice. For moves OUT OF COUNTRY, please allow two weeks for a complete set of hand carry records. This notice will ensure that we are able to complete the withdrawal process as needed to collect withdrawal grades, textbook & library checks, and required signatures.
