The Fight for Women's Suffrage
* Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton formed the National Woman Suffrage Association to work for suffrage on the Federal Level
* Another group, the American women Suffrage Association was formed to work for suffrage on a state-by-state basis.
* Eventually the two groups merged to form the National American Woman Suffrage Association
* The National Woman's Party (lead by Alice Paul) was a more militant party, taking action such as picketing the white house, to get congress to pass a women's suffrage amendment
* The work of women on behalf of the war effort proved their patriotism and played a large role in gaining their right to vote.
* On August 26th, 1920 the 19th amendment was passed, allowing women to vote
