Holiday Party Countdown!
Wednesday, December 14 (time: 2-4pm, place: TBD). This event will be a potluck as well as a White Elephant Gift Exchange Party (yep, we're bringing it back!). The GSC will provide paper products and beverages. You will provide the food - so start thinking about that special recipe that you like to make...and a wacky gift that you would like to offload! White elephant gifts should be gifts you have around that aren't a "match" for you, but may be a match for others. Can be funny (or not)
Thanks to all of our party planners and contributors for the lovely baby shower for Ms. Bri and for the great meet up at Plank. It was great to leave for our break with some time to celebrate with each other!

Coach Tara's Corner
Thanks to Coach Tara at Playworks, Glenview's Social-Emotional Sports Clinic just received a $500.00 grant through The Pollination Project! This grant will be used to purchase more equipment for our yard! Whooo-hoo!
What are these Sports Clinics and Student Coaches I keep hearing about?
As part of our SEL Support Program, Student coaches with the leadership of Coach Jose and Coach Cuny will lead 3-4 Sports Clinics this year as an anti-bullying prevention and social-emotional program where kids combine physical fitness and fun, while building social emotional skills.
Who gets to do it?
8 upper grade students pair up and lead a total of 4 teams made up of 20-25 lower grade students. Each week, student coaches teach and reinforce on one social skill (sportsmanship, for example) while leading drills as the teams prepare for the big tournament at the end of the week!
Who creates the curriculum?
The Student Coaches co-create the curriculum by debriefing the previous week's successes and challenges in order to apply lessons learned to strengthen the clinic in the future. The goal?
What's the purpose?
SEL Sports Clinic aim to:
-Cultivate youth leadership
-Teach the toolkit (https://dovetaillearning.org/toolbox/the-12-tools/)
-Strengthen relationships and friendships
-Prevent bullying and aggressive behaviors through positive peer support
-Increase physical activity and wellness
-Support academic development
Is this the same as the Jr. Coaches we have during recess?
There is some overlap, but Jr. Coaches are there to support games during recess. Sports clinic coaches meet on Friday afternoons to teach and lead their "teams" of younger students.
Have a concern? Want to raise an issue?
