Cultural Experience
On Friday, September 16, Mrs. Vargas combined ESL class with Spanish 4 and Spanish 5 so everyone could enjoy lunch together. Each student brought in food from their country. From FUFU from Congo, Africa, to Tacos dorados from Mexico to good old “American apple pie.” students spent time enjoying each other’s food and fellowship.

Calling All Artists!
If you are interested in participating in the 2022 Carrollton Branch Library Bookmark Contest, see Mrs. Canady (room 34) or Mrs. Enyingi (room 35) for an entry form! Students will be responsible for submitting their entries to the Carrollton Library (right next to Carrollton Elementary) by September 30th. Encourage friends and family to visit the library during the month of October to vote for their favorites! Winning entries will be made into official bookmarks and will be available at the library. Have fun and good luck!
PSAT
Presentations were offered recently for sophomores and juniors regarding the PSAT. As a parent/guardian, you should have received a letter in the mail with specific PSAT information.
Please encourage your student to sign up for the test using the Google Form that was shared with them via their school email. There is no cost for sophomores to test, but juniors must pay $18. Please pay by cash or check payable to SHS. Signup and payment deadline: Friday, September 30, 2022. If you have questions, please contact Terri Krohn at tkrohn@iwcs.k12.va.us
AP Exams
Parents/Guardians, please encourage your students to register and pay for AP exams by Friday, November 4, 2022. If you have questions, please contact Terri Krohn at tkrohn@iwcs.k12.va.us

Senior conferences will begin the first week in October. Letters will be put in the mail to parents if they would like to attend the conference with their student.
Class of 2023 FAFSA Workshop for parents and students: Oct. 19 from 5 - 7 p.m.
Senior Portraits
For students who did not take their senior portraits over the summer, make-up pictures will be taken from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 29. You can make an appointment by visiting: prestigeportraits.com
All senior portraits must be submitted to Mrs. Garrow by Thursday, December 1. If you took your portrait with Prestige, it will automatically be sent to Mrs. Garrow. Be sure to select your pose. All backgrounds MUST BE BLUE. If you took your portrait with an outside photographer, be sure the background is BLUE and that it is either a drape or tux formal portrait. Have the photographer send the portrait to Hgarrow@iwcs.k12.va.us

Safe Teen Driving
This year, the driver education courses have been issued a parent/teen video from VDOE. Students are required to view the video as part of their classroom requirements. It is optional for parents to view the video.
