You’ve never heard of Samuel Clemens? That’s because you probably know him as Mark Twain. Mark Twain is a famous author because he wrote over 30 books in his life, lots of his books are classics, and he was a well-known humorist.
He was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri. His family later moved to Hannibal and thats where he spent most of his childhood. When he was born he was named Samuel Langhorne Clemens and his parents were John Marshall and Jane Lampton. He had 6 siblings, Orion, Pamela, Margaret, Henry, Pleasant, and Benjamin.
In his life, Mark Twain accomplished many things. He became a bestselling author, wrote over 30 books and lots of them have became classics. He got married to Olivia Langdon and had four childeren, Clara, Langdon, Susy, and Jean. Most of his childeren died young and only one died at an old age. Clara lived the longest. Two of them died in their twenties and one died in infancy. On April 21, 1910 Mark Twain died at the age of 74.
Mark Twain is a well-known author because he wrote many books in his life, some of his books are bestsellers, and he had a good sense of humor. Because of his unique writing style, his books have stayed popular today. Even though they were written years ago, they are still in print and being read.
