Women kept strong and fought for what they thought was right. You can picture what that would look like and apply that to what the women were feeling

They were not afraid to speak out, and they wanted a voice in society.

Starched white shirts took lots of work to clean and iron, so this line is telling how it was hard work to get what they wanted.

This means that they stood strong and kept moving forward.

There are many areas needed to be discovered by women.

They battled to get what the wanted, and went through any object in their why.
Figurative Language
"With Fist as well as Hands"(5-6)
They could be nice and friendly but when they didn't get equality they started to fight back.
"How they led Armies"(12-13)
They led a group of people and they stayed by each others side like a army would.
"Booby-trapped Ditches"(17-18)
Politics and people were getting in there way of their final goals.
