Dar-Un-Noor Academy Weekly Newsletter - May 25, 2017
Message from the Principal
We have reached the close of the 2016-2017 school year and alhamdoulillah it's been an amazing year of firsts. Students have worked very hard and can look forward to a well deserved summer vacation. Insha Allah everyone has a fun summer and blessed Ramadan. Teachers have put a lot of effort into making sure the students have been successful. We have always felt the support of the student's parents and our community.
This year was full of new initiatives such as the first ever Science Expo which was organized by DNA & Atlanta Science Academy. Our students were awarded the most gold medals in the regional Science Olympiad competition. Quite a few first, second, and third places were awarded at the GA Tech Fair and Perennial Math competitions. Robotics team advanced to the super-regional stage. This year was our first time competing in the regional Spelling Bee.The school's individualized approach allows our students to excel in their Arabic and Quran education. As you may already know our Arabic courses focus on the Arabic of the Quran. Our Quran education is based on 4T and 1H: Tilawah, Tajweed, Tafseer, Tarbiyah, and Hifz.
This year we adopted the most up-to-date programs for core academic subjects. We started with art classes for Kindergarten through eighth grade. In addition to Robotics Club we have begun to offer Robotics classes for middle school students. We have new advanced VR technology and a virtual reality classroom. The VR system offers a never ending supply of educational benefits for both students and teachers. This year we are proud to have opened a library as well. Our newly established Science Lab has been put to great use by our students through out the year and we will extend it's benefits to the elementary school next year insha Allah.
For the first time we have offered PSAT and AP Human Geography testing to our 8th-10th graders. Some of the students who took the PSAT are ranked as 98th, 95th, 94th, and 92nd percentiles. Alhamdoulillah as our excellent high school continues to grow we will make it even better with our updated high school curriculum for next year. The 2017-2018 school year will be a very exciting one insha Allah for DNA & Atlanta Science Academy with new programs, technology, and initiatives. May Allah azza wa jeel help us all !
