2023-2024 School Year :: Week of February 12, 2024
A Message from Mrs. Hankins
JSE Families and Friends,
Last week was School Counselor Appreciation Week. We are fortunate at JSE with Mrs. Morton being a great home-school advisor. She helps with our buses and transportation, attendance, and students. She helps us feel loved, resolve conflict, and learn how to stay safe at school and home.
There are always so many people around JSE that help make our school run efficiently and effectively. They also help keep our friendly and kind atmosphere. It always makes me so happy to hear from families and visitors how much they love our school. We are a fabulous place to learn and grow and I am so proud of everyone involved!
Don't forget Wednesday is our Fancy Nancy lunch and we have school on Friday, Feb. 16. Lunch will be pizza.
You are loved at JSE,
Mrs. Hankins

Principal's Challenge
JSE Robocats
This year, the goal was to build bots that knock over big red cubes, pick up green and purple cubes, and then put them in baskets to score then park your bot. You get points for each cube, plus bonus points for having them divided by color.
Our January competition had the teams tie in 12th place out of 39 teams with an average score of about 43. February's competition Robocats A scored an average of 64 points, and Robocats B scored 58 points. They earned 11th and 15th place.
Thank you to the countless hours Mr. Joe and Mrs. Roberts put in with the students. Thank you to Mr. Smith for starting the program and encouraging them from afar while you were out. It was a great season, and we hope more will join robotics next year!

Yearbook Orders
Inclement Weather Protocol (repeat)
If we need to close school we can have a "traditional" snow day and have the day off. These would result in us making up the day in one of our snow days in February.
We are allowed three asynchronous days, or e-learning without the teacher supporting, where students do the work assigned to them on their chromebooks or packets. We use one of these for elementary conferences each year. This counts as a day of school.
Next, we are allowed as many synchronous days as needed. These days we will be online but with teacher support. The elementary schedule is posted below. This counts as a day of school.
As weather gets sketchy, we may be sending Chromebooks back and forth in the event of a possible closure. This does not mean we will certainly have a virtual day, but just preparation.
If you ever have any questions, please reach out to the office or your child's teacher.
