Welcome to Lakeville
We are so happy to have you here!
From the Principal
Welcome! Thank you for choosing to teach at Lakeville Elementary today. Below you will find a list of important items that you should find in your classroom and some additional important information as well. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Burton in the office (1856) or Ms. Gibson-Marshall (1851).
What's That Sound?
SAFETY PROCEDURES:
Each classroom teacher should have important safety procedures listed in their sub plans. These procedures include directions for fire evacuations, tornado shelter procedures, and directions for a school lockdown. In the classroom you can also find a blue safety manual that includes more specific information for emergency situations. We have new devices and procedures for securing the classroom door during a lockdown. Emergency numbers and the code for using the “all call” public announcement system can be found on the classroom phone. If you have any questions, please contact the office. Student safety is very important to us. Please familiarize yourself with these procedures prior to beginning your day.
Is There a Doctor in the House?
MEDICAL INFORMATION:
Included in your sub plans should be a list of specific students who have medical concerns. Please be sure to read about the procedures for addressing the medical concern. Be sure to recognize whether your classroom is peanut-free. If you are a peanut-free class, students and adults should not bring any food items that contain nuts into the classroom for snack.
Gotta Go!
CLASSROOM DISMISSAL:
The classroom teacher should have left a class roster that includes end of the day dismissal procedures for every student. It is important that you ensure that all students are dismissed to the correct location. Parent pick-ups can be sent to our northwest OR southeast parking lot. It will be essential to know which lot the teacher uses. Extended Day students go to ROOM 300. The teacher will walk bussers out to the main parking lot. The substitute teacher should ensure every bus student boards the correct bus. If a student has a change in dismissal procedure, they should give you a form which will indicate the change in the dismissal procedure for the day. Students must present that for any change in dismissal plans. Please call Donna in the office (1856) if you have any questions regarding where a student should go at dismissal time. You must follow the teacher’s directions for student dismissal if you do not have a note.
No News is Good News
Student confidentiality is very important to us at Lakeville Elementary. Please do not share confidential or sensitive information about students or teachers outside of the school building. This includes posts on social media including Facebook or Instagram.
Did You See That?
SUPERVISION:
It is important that students are supervised at all times. Cell phone use and texting during the school day should not occur while students are present. If you take the students out on recess, please actively supervise the students throughout the playground.
How Did It Go?
It is important to leave a note for the classroom teacher summarizing the day. Student behavior concerns should be indicated in that note to the teacher. Please do not send home a note to the student’s parents regarding behavior issues. The classroom teacher will handle those concerns upon returning.
