From The Glen Meadow Middle School
Welcome to Glen Meadow Middle School!
Happy August! While we are certainly not wishing your summer break away, we are excitedly awaiting the return of our Glen Meadow Middle School students on Tuesday, September 7th. In preparation for your child(ren)'s arrival to Glen Meadow, our dedicated administrative assistants and custodial and maintenance staff members have been working very hard to prepare for what promises to be an amazing 2021-2022 school year!
Many exciting events await us in the coming days, and we hope you will be able to join us! On Tuesday, August 17th at 6:00 pm, Glen Meadow Middle School will host a 6th-Grade Parent/Guardian-Student Orientation. Please come to GMMS with your sixth grader to meet the administration, learn all about our amazing clubs and activities, take a student-led tour of the building, learn about the Youth Action Group (Vernon Coalition) and the GMMS SCA while enjoying light refreshments.
On Thursday, August 26th and Friday, August 27th, Glen Meadow is hosting an Open House for all 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students (and parents/guardians) who would like to informally tour the building, meet the administration and learn about the Youth Action Group (Vernon Coalition), the after-school clubs and activities, and the GMMS SCA. Please feel free to drop in any time between 10:00 am - 12:00 pm to walk your child's schedule.
As always, we are here to work alongside you and your child(ren) throughout the school year. If you should ever have any questions or concerns about your child's education, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we are stronger! When the school and home collaborate and communicate, we are all working towards one common goal - a successful school year for your child. In accordance with Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 251, which went into effect on Monday, August 9, 2021, all staff, students and visitors must wear a face mask indoors in all school buildings. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Kindness makes the world go round! It is so important to be kind to not only others but to ourselves. An act of kindness and connection creates a ripple effect and impacts so many more people than we realize! School Schedules Available on August 16th
Schedules will be released on Genesis at 3:00 pm. Parents/Guardians must fill out all forms in the Genesis Parent Portal before schedules will be viewable to parents/guardians and students. Please Note: If you do not see your child's homeroom listed when schedules release, please continue to check back in Genesis as that information will be updated in the coming days.
Counselor Assignments
At GMMS, students are aligned with their School Counselor based upon their current grade level. For the 2021-2022 school year, counseling responsibilities are listed below. School counselors will be available to address any scheduling concerns from Tuesday, August 17th through Thursday, August 19th between the hours of 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Field Hockey Info
Anyone interested in playing Field Hockey MUST have proper physical paperwork completed by the start of practice. Practice starts Tuesday 9/7, after school. For more information, please go to the Athletics page on the VTSD website and click on Registration (not paperwork) for detailed information.

Volunteer Opportunity at Maple Grange Park
If your child is interested in helping stain the 3.2 miles of fence at Maple Grange Park, please contact Mrs. Van Orden at
jvanorden@vtsd.com. Volunteers are needed from Monday, August 23rd through Wednesday, August 25th. If interested, we will share your child’s name with the committee organizing this event and they will be in touch with you regarding the details. A special thank you to those who have already offered to help!
Healthy and Nutritious Meals
Healthy and Nutritious Meals are available for all children ages 18 and under. Meals may be picked up at Vernon Township High School on Fridays. Please click
