Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up quickly. If you have not yet scheduled a meeting time (both virtual and in-person options) with your child's teacher, please contact him/her today. Per Board Policy, audio/video recording is not permitted during conferences. School gates will be open from 1:20-5:00pm each day for those attending conferences.

For grades 6, 7 & 8, all parents are encouraged to make time to attend a conference. Plan to drop-in for conferences on the following dates:

11/14: Virtual conferences only (email teacher to request link) 1:15-3:00

11/15: 1:15-3:00 in Multipurpose Room (MPR)

11/16: 1:15-4:00 in Multipurpose Room (MPR)

11/17: 1:15-3:00 (Spanish/Arabic translators available on this date) in MPR

Lost & Found

Please take some time to check out the Lost and Found this week. It is FULL. The lost and Found cart will be outside the kindergarten gates or front of school all week. Some of our kids have lost some nice jackets, water bottles, and lunch boxes. All items left unclaimed after 11/18 will be donated.

Turkey Trot Details

Wear your running shoes on WEDNESDAY, 11/16! Grades 6-8 will run in PE uniforms. Here are the details for our Turkey Trot fun run:

Locations & Distances:

TK/Kinder is running the upper field loop.

1st and 2nd graders are running a ½ mile.

Grades 5-8 will be running a 1 mile course.

Times:

  • TK/Kindergarten – 8:50 am
  • 3rd Grade - 9:05 am
  • 4th Grade - 9:30 am
  • 5th Grade - 9:55 am
  • 2nd Grade - 10:20 am
  • 1st Grade - 10:40 am
  • 6th Grade – 11:00 am

  • 8th Grade - 11:50 am

Prizes: We are providing top finishers with medals this year instead of turkeys. Also, Menchie's is kindly donating a free yogurt coupon to all student participants.

Adult Runners: If adults want to win a medal, they must run and have their time recorded in one of the mile races. Extra name tag stickers will be available near the start line.

Volunteers: If you are interested in helping run this event, please email Mrs. Wray directly at Jill.Wray@santeesd.net

Traffic

Please SLOW DOWN in front of the school and along Pepper and Marlinda. This week, several cars ran through red lights or drove through crosswalks, narrowly missing students and parents. Be aware. Slow down. Save lives.

Due to conferences and minimum day schedule next week, all K-8 students will be dismissed at 1:05 each day. This will cause longer traffic lines. Arrive early and be patient.

Facial Piercings Reminder

Please remember that the Santee School Board Policy on piercings restricts facial piercings to the ears. "Any other piercing must be plugged with a skin tone plug (no color)."

Students with other facial piercings who are unable to use flesh-toned piercings or plugs will be asked to cover with bandaids during school.
