UGA Double Reed Symposium
Greetings Teachers, Band Directors and Parents!!!
It is that time of year again when we are getting ready for our annual Double Reed Symposium! This year’s Symposium is scheduled to take place on March 4th, 2018 and our guests this year include the esteemed artists Jeffrey Rathbun Assistant Principal Oboist of the Cleveland Orchestra and Barrick Stees Assistant Principal Bassoon of the Cleveland Orchestra. Both of these musicians are world-renowned artists who we are extremely excited and proud to host. Don’t miss the opportunity for your students to work with them and learn from their expertise.
We will offer four master classes (2 bassoon and 2 oboe) each will include 4 spots for students interested in performing. Students wishing to perform must send an email of notification to be considered for the master class. If you would like, please attach a short resume with their notification.
We are also offering master classes for junior high and younger students to give them a chance to perform and learn fundamental skills in a welcoming environment.
To secure a master class space please contact us:
Bassoons email Dr. Amy Pollard at – marinell@uga.edu
Oboes email Dr. Reid Messich at – rmessich@uga.edu
Returning again this year is the super easy Online Application! Students will save money by registering online and will also be able to pay by credit card. On our website is a list of all activities, bios of all artists, and a list of vendors that will be attending the symposium. Registration deadline is February 19th, 2018!
