Cougar "Prints"
Week of April 24
Welcome Back!
Now that we have returned for the final six weeks of school, I found myself excited to return today and couldn't sleep very well. From now until the end of the school year, I need each of you to do a couple of things for me: 1) HAVE FUN! Our jobs are stressful enough, so to go through our days not having fun in what we do only creates more of a strain on our professional and personal relationships; 2) FINISH STRONG - we cannot do anything about the previous 9 months of the school year. Much like our message from February's staff meeting, think about the goals you put on the note cards and whether or not you have been able to work toward them. We will review these at our next staff meeting next Wednesday.

EVAAS Roster Verification - IMPORTANT
FOR THIS PROCESS, WE ARE ONLY LOOKING AT CORE + EC, ESL, and AIG to be included in the percentages - we are not going to mess with the huge undertaking of I/E block for all the obvious reasons.
Please use the following link to answer many of your questions especially if you are ESL, EC, and really, any classroom teacher:
Please use the following link for suggestions and scenario examples for claiming responsibility:

Special Announcement from STATE for KINDERGARTEN
Kindergarten teachers only claim from MOY to EOY
The EVAAS growth measures for kindergarten are based on students' performance between the middle of year (MOY) and end of year (EOY) tests. Historically, there has not been enough differentiation in students' performance on the beginning of year (BOY) test to establish students' entering achievement. Most students score at the very lowest end of the scale at RB or PC, and it is not clear whether the data gathered in the TRC assessment is a true representation of what students know or if they simply don't know how to respond and react to the new world of assessment. By MOY, students have become more accustomed to the assessment process and the data spread provides differences and variations among students, making a comparison between MOY and EOY possible for measuring their growth.
Since entering achievement is defined by the MOY test, kindergarten teachers should only claim instructional responsibility from the MOY to EOY test administrations. As an example, if a student enters your class on the first day of school, but moves to another school before the MOY test, remove that student from your roster.
Effective Schools Correlates
Most of the PLCs should have made it through the 7 Correlates of Effective Schools by Larry Lezotte.
As we continue our work here at Coltrane-Webb STEM, we will continue to build on the introductions to these correlates.
The goal from March until June is to now review these correlates with Encore teachers and then onto our support staff (teacher assistants, office staff, cafeteria, and custodians).
STAFF SHOUT-OUTS!
Shout-out to everyone for making the week before break a huge success! We have received a lot of positive parent and community feedback from our Chess Tournament, Math Olympiad, Science Olympiad, DARE Graduation, 1st Grade Student Performance, and Children's Day Festival!
Now that we have returned from break, please don't forget to suggest shout-outs for the remainder of the school year.
