The Weekly Buzz π
From Palmer River Elementary School
September 15, 2023
This week, our third and fourth graders participated in a program called "Savings Makes Sense" with our community partners, Bristol County Savings Bank. Students learned about the benefits of saving money, and also had a lesson on financial literacy with bank employees. During the course of the 2023-2024 school year, PRES third and fourth graders will have the opportunity to open a savings account if they don't have one already, and make monthly deposits into their accounts on the dates listed below. These "banking" sessions will take place after students arrive at school. We are very grateful for this opportunity for PRES students, and we hope the program is a great success.
If you should need assistance, please email or call us anytime.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal

Request from Bloom Bus Company
Bloom Bus Company respectfully requests that students taking the bus be outside and waiting at the bus stop in the morning. There are many bus drivers reporting that students are playing off in areas away from the bus stop, and this delays the remainder of the route. Thank you for your help.

Daily Drop Off and Pick Up Information
Please find our updated Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures on our website, or by clicking THIS LINK.
***In the morning, if you choose to park and drop off your student(s) instead of using the car drop off line, please walk children to the crosswalk, and all the way to the FRONT DOOR entrance. Please do not walk them over to the car drop off entrance.
***In the afternoon, please make sure you bring your Pick Up Tag and photo ID when you are picking up your student(s). Families who do not have their tag may have to wait until the end to reunite with children.
Communication with the school is essential. Please notify the school whenever you are changing how your child gets home from school at the end of the day. We request that an email be sent to the teacher, Mrs. Rupp (prupp@drregional.org), and Mrs. Saxon (lsaxon@drregional.org) to ensure that all parties see the communication. Please send this message prior to 2:45pm. Thank you for ensuring that our safety and security protocols operate smoothly and that communication loops are closed.
A Note from the School Health Office
WHEN TO KEEP OUR CHILDREN HOME FROM SCHOOL
We all want students to have good attendance; however, there may be times when they are too ill to come to school. You cannot learn when you are unwell and you risk infecting others if you have a communicable disease.
The protocols below are suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Please keep your learner at home when they are experiencing:
Fever
An elevation of body temperature above normal ( oral 100.0ΒΊF )
Should not return until afebrile (without fever) for 24 hours without the aid of antipyretics (Tylenol, Motrin/Ibuprofen)
Diarrhea where the child is experiencing an increased number of loose stools (compared with his/her normal pattern).
Rest and fluids until 24 hours after diarrhea stops.
Child has vomited in the previous 24 hours.
Remain home for 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting.
The child must be able to tolerate a meal without vomiting.
Respiratory infections are common. If the child does not have fever, does not appear to have decreased activity or other symptoms, it is not necessary for the child to stay home.
Respiratory hygiene and etiquette should be promoted.
Keep in mind that Influenza, Covid-19, and RSV may begin with respiratory symptoms.
Strep throat requires at least 24 hours of antibiotic therapy before returning to school. In some cases, your clinician will recommend 48 hours.

The Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District is excited to announce that we have moved most of our back to school paperwork to the Aspen Family Portal. This portal is a secure, online platform that allows you to complete all of your back to school paperwork quickly and easily.
There are several reasons why we have moved our paperwork to the Aspen Family Portal. First, it allows us to streamline the back to school process and make it more efficient for everyone. Second, it allows us to collect your paperwork electronically, which reduces our paper waste. Third, it allows us to keep your paperwork secure and confidential.
Through the portal, families can complete the following:
- Update their personal phone number
- Update their personal email address
- Authorize student photo release
- Agree to Technology Take Home (MS and HS students only)
- Agree to Student Acceptable Use Policy
- Agree to Student Handbook
We encourage you to log in to the Aspen Family Portal and complete your back to school paperwork as soon as possible. Here are some step-by-step directions to help you get started.
If you have any questions, please submit a Technology Helpdesk Ticket. Thank you for your cooperation.
