Check Presented to Hornet Pantry

"Cuts and Kicks" is a program that is supported by numerous local Beech Grove businesses and individuals. Thirty-six pairs of shoes were donated to local Beech Grove City Schools' students in need. And, the students also received free haircuts from Vinny's Barbershop. Because of the extreme generosity of the businesses and individuals involved, there was money left over after the purchase of the shoes. Linda Byland, one of the individuals involved with the program, recently presented Dr. Paul Kaiser, BGCS Superintendent, and Shirley Folks, BGCS' District Home School Advisor, with a check to purchase additional pairs of shoes for students needing shoes throughout the school year. Ms. Folks will purchase and distribute new shoes for students, as needed, through the Hornet Care Pantry, a program Folks coordinates to provide food, personal care items, and other supplies for Beech Grove City School students. Linda Byland is pictured below with Shirley Folks and Dr. Kaiser.

Send Us Your Hornet Highlights!

We know there are many, many positive stories about Beech Grove City Schools involving our students, teachers, staff, and programs that we don't always hear. If you have a positive story to share, please send the details to Melody Stevens, Community Relations Director, at mstevens@bgcs.k12.in.us. We also encourage you to send stories that include personal achievements of your child such as: attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, performing in a community play, earning Girl Scout badges, serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, etc., etc. You might just see your story in a future edition of the "Hornet Blast" or in one of our local south side newspapers. We want to celebrate our Hornets!
