Children in Wonderland
As Long as You Avoid the Flu
Curiouser and Curiouser
We launched a class book this week of Alice in Wonderland, as the first entry into our fantasy studies. The children (at least the boys) were relieved that they would not have to dress up as the main character for their book report as I had to in high school when I read the book. We will have reading group books next week. This week also will have our word study tests and a Time for Kids. The students will begin a three-day Jamestown project this week and we will have a test next week. The study guide will be coming home on Thursday.
Valentine's Day Mini-Celebration
On Friday, we will have an exchange of Valentine's. The treats and drinks have already been taken care of for the afternoon. We will decorate our bags in class this week and will receive Valentines on Friday. The students in are class are:
Henry, Klarisa, Jessica, Grayson, Presleigh, Kate, Ina, Will, Savanhah, Asher, Rush, Noah, Hailey, Stewart, Jack, Ian, Nick, Devonta, Anna Grace, Charlie, Brandon and Riordan.

Jury Duty This Week
I am scheduled to serve on Thursday the 11th. I will find out the night before if I need to attend. If I am not going to be in class, I will send everyone an email as soon as I know.
Jamestown, May 29th
We will be taking our Jamestown field trip on Friday, May 29th. The cost will be $50 per student. Additional details are forthcoming and there will be some information in tomorrow's Monday folder. The 29th also happens to be Western's scheduled graduation day. We will return that day at approximately 6:00 p.m., but have been as late as 6:30 in the past. We will be able to take three chaperones from the class. If you are interested, I will be asking for volunteers later this spring. If we have more than 3 parents who volunteer, we will have a random drawing to select the "winners".
