May It Be of Benefit
Hello Families,
What is a School Site Council and why is it important? The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students (at the middle and high school level) that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. I'll be honest (this is just me, after all, talking to you from my heart), in all the years that I have been an administrator, I have struggled to find people to be a part of the council. I feel bad asking parents and staff and community members to give up their valuable time, and the work of an oversight committee can feel more like an obligation than an energetic, creative workgroup. Nevertheless, this council is an area where schools are often audited, and we need to do our very best to find people who would be willing (even happy) to be part of our school site council for the current year.
The commitment: meet approximately 4 times a year for an hour after school. In those meetings, we typically review the roles of each member, view, edit, and finally approve the yearly schoolwide goals for academics, safety, and parental involvement, review the results of our school surveys which are sent out each January, and finally, have elections for the following year's council.
This year to date, two parents have volunteered to be part of the council. Please take a moment to click the link here and vote to approve their roles in the council. We can always use more people on the council, so if you have an interest and a bit of free time, please write your name in and we will contact you with the information about our next meeting. Those meetings are open to the public and we always post our meeting dates and times one week prior to the meeting.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Gold

Please Pull Forward
It is NOT safe to drop students off at the inside lane unless they use the crosswalk located adjacent to Room 21 Preschool. Please be patient and mindful of the safety of our children during morning drop off and afternoon pick up.
Covid-Related Attendance and Staffing Obstacles
1) after 10 days at home and relief of the symptom(s)
2) with a doctor's note which states that the symptom is not related to Covid
3) a negative Covid test
What you may not be aware of is that these same guidelines apply to staff. With very few substitute teachers and support staff available, at times, we may be unable to provide adequate staffing. If this happens, we may need to provide supervision/teaching by another staff member, use multiple staff members as they are available throughout the day to cover a class, or in dire circumstances, we may need a class to stay home on Distance Learning temporarily.
If a class must go on Distance Learning, I will make every attempt to give you notice the day before.
