Message from the Director

Hello CNUSD Family,

BRRRR! Baby it's cold outside! NOT! Wow, have we been blessed with the most amazing weather. Sunshine everywhere! I hope you are taking it all in and enjoying this extra dose of Vitamin D! This newsletter will provide you with everything going on at the Parent Center for the months of December and January. We have added a few new resources and some really cool upcoming events and parent workshops. Please read all the way through. You may just find a treasure or two! Have a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!

Community Partnerships

Saddleback Church Partnership - Food Distribution

The Parent Center and Saddleback Church have collaborated to host a monthly drive-thru food distribution that is open to all.

Dates: Saturdays, 12/11, 1/22, 2/12, 3/12, 4/9, 5/14, and 6/11

Care Portal Organization

New Resource - Through a collaboration with the Care Portal organization and the Olive Branch Church we can now refer families for needed items including beds, furniture, clothing, small appliances, baby items, and much more. If you have a family in need please give us a call at the Parent Center and we will make the appointment for them to go and get the items needed. This is a great resource so please share!

Parent Workshops and Family Engagement Activities

Separate But Together

Tools for co-parenting success. Meet real families who work together to succeed. No therapy, just real talk.

Session 2: December 14 - Communication is key. Learn ways to communicate effectively and work together with your co-parenting partner.

Session 3: February 8 - Work together to implement discipline procedures that support consistency in both households.

Time: 6:00-7:30pm

Teen Triple P - English and Spanish Workshops

An 8 week workshop where you will learn strategies to understand the way your family works and use the things you already say, think, feel and do in new ways that create a supportive environment that builds positive relationships with your child. Classes will be held in English and Spanish with limited availability.

Date: Thursdays, January 27 - March 17, 2022

Time: 9:00am - 11:00am

Walk Around the World with the Parent Center

Start 2022 with a healthy new challenge that the whole family can work towards.

• Walk with the family and log your steps as we take a virtual walk around the world.

• Learn new information about the destinations we "walk" to.

• Get updates on different trails in the area to visit.

CTE Live

The Parent Center is partnering with our CTE division and hosting a monthly Facebook Live Q&A session. The purposes is to learn more about CTE pathways offered in CNUSD.

Date: First Tuesday of each month

Time: 6:00pm English – 7:00pm Spanish

Community Resources

Sensory Friendly Event - by Create Holiday Magic in partnership with Autism Speaks. All families with children with autism and other special needs can enjoy the time-honored tradition of a visit with Santa, in a more subdued and calm environment. A free event at Inland Center, 500 Inland Center Drive, San Bernardino 92408. Event on Sunday, December 12th from 9:30am - 10:30am. Registration required.


Kids & Cops Holiday Magic - on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Open to city of Corona residents with children between the ages of 3-12 years. Registration is required to receive special gifts. Last registration opportunity is on Saturday, December 11th from 9am - 12pm. See flyer for details.


Phileo Organization - Phileo is an organization started by a CNUSD alumni that assists families in need with groceries. Each family receives a tote filled with fresh fruits, vegetables and a $25 grocery gift card. To refer a family please contact Phileo directly at (714) 768-2645 or email at: PhileoOrganization@gmail.com.


Child Care Referral - Riverside County Office of Education assists parents in Riverside County with finding licensed child care near their home, work, or child's school. Access the online referral system or call (800) 442-4927.


Find Volunteer Opportunities - find volunteering opportunities in our area for children, teens, or adults through the Volunteer Match website or Just Serve website.


Remind Tutoring Services - a paid math tutoring service available 7days a week via zoom for grades 2 to 12, including AP statistics. First session free. Visit website for more information.


Passport Fellowship - offers grants to encourage students from underrepresented communities to acquire a passport to take the first step in becoming a global citizen. click to view flyer.
