School Newsletter for Parents
Week of January 10
Concerns about COVID-19 command a lot of attention, and Attea, like other schools, experienced a high number of positive cases among students and staff. And there may be lots of questions about how we are handling things. In order to avoid confusion we'll continue to rely on and steer parents toward the D34 Health & Safety Protocols page as well as the D34 Parent Newsletters for the most up-to-date information.
In all other ways we are trying to ensure that school feels as normal as possible. And to our students' credit - as shown by their good cheer, kindness, and enthusiasm each day - we have a happy and productive environment.
The rest of the newsletter provides updates and informational items. As always, please call the school office (847-486-7700) or email us (Send Us a Message) if you have a question.
Winter NWEA information
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
Now that we’re back in school after a restful break and holiday season, it’s time for students to take their Winter NWEA tests. Please be aware that all Attea students will be taking the Winter NWEA on January 10th and 11th, which is Monday and Tuesday. Students will be taking the ELA test on Monday and the math test on Tuesday.
To ensure that we have smooth testing sessions, we will start school at 8:15 am as usual, we will test until 9:45 am, and then we will follow the Wednesday schedule for the remainder of each day.
Students who are at home for any reason, whether it be for a COVID-related quarantine, another illness, a trip, etc., will take NWEA during makeup sessions after January 11th. There will be no administration of NWEA for students who are at home. Dates for NWEA makeups will begin on January 12th in ELA and math classes, and then they will continue via morning and afternoon make-up sessions. Anyone who missed the initial testing sessions will be able to make them up in person.
All students should be checking their iPads over the weekend to ensure that they’re in working order for NWEA testing. This means updating iPad software, reinstalling the NWEA app, and making sure there are 8 to 10 GB of space available. The easiest way to free up space is to delete non-educational photos and videos. If you could remind your child or children to go through these steps that would be a huge help!
As always, thank you so much for your help and support in all that we do here at Attea. If you have any questions, let us know!
