Dear Families,

Congratulations on completing two and a half weeks of remote learning. As we move forward, I would like to remind everyone that this is a new school experience for all of us. Now, more than ever, we need to work together to make sure our students thrive. To best achieve a successful collaboration, I would like to offer these suggestions:

* Set up a learning space for your student that includes flexible seating options.

* Provide them with the daily schedule.

* Once they are connected, walk away!

* You can pin the teacher to help with attention to teacher directions.

* Always let your student attempt to solve problems on their own. Teachers are watching and listening, and are ready to assist.

* It's okay for your student to misspell words; teachers can help sound words out.

* If your student asks you a question, remind them to ask the teacher for help.

* It's okay if your student gives an incorrect answer!

Even during this new experience, our students have the same need that they normally would in a new year; to build relationships with their teachers. These relationships will help support their understanding of how to take risks and master skills. This year, children are working to establish those relationships from home. This adds a layer of complexity as they try to navigate following school rules while at home. Stepping back, and letting your child receive help from their teachers will support them as they navigate this challenge.

Again, thank you for all your hard work during this difficult time. I am proud of our students for demonstrating that they are strong, adaptable, and determined to try. Keep up the good work, and know that we are here for you every step of the way. Together, we will continue to support each other and our students. We will get through this!
