3rd and 4th grade Reading STAAR April 18th
Our 3rd -4th grade students will take the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) on Tuesday April 18th for Reading and Tuesday May 9th for Math. The purpose of this letter is to give you an understanding of the test, specific dates for each test, and to give you a few ideas for helping your child to do his/her best on these tests. These assessments are required by the Texas Education Agency and are used to evaluate school district performance as well as individual student performance. These assessments measure how well students have mastered the content and skills identified in the TEA standards. Please save and reference these dates to ensure your child is well prepared to do their best on these assessments. The most important thing that you can do for your child during testing is make sure that he/she comes to school on the days they have tests. Making up a missed test means time out of class and losing important learning time that cannot be made up. In addition to attendance, your child will do his/her best on the tests if they:
· take the tests seriously and give his or her best effort,
· get to bed early the night before to be well-rested on the day of the test,
· have a good breakfast on the morning of the test,
· come to school on time.
This testing is very important for your child. Let’s do everything in our power to help our children succeed! Thank you for supporting your child and our school during this test. Additional resources regarding the STAAR assessment can be found at LPSFrisco.com. Please call if you have any questions. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO VISITORS WILL BE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS DURING TESTING WEEKS. THERE WILL BE NO LUNCH VISITS ON TESTING WEEKS:
Grade 3 & 4 STAAR Reading Tuesday April 18 (makeups will be the remainder of the week)
Grade 3 & 4 STAAR Math Tuesday, May 9th (makeups will be the remainder of the week)

Friday Enrichment Program- Fall 2023
Hello I am Kelly Skinner at Student Enrichment Services, and my team is working on determining how we can academically support our students this fall on Fridays and still give them a “break” day that is not daycare. The goal is to encourage a love of learning and a growth mindset among our students, while having fun doing all the things we enjoy, like science experiments, creating art, writing our own books, learning a new sport like Cricket, and whatever draws and keeps the interest of our students.
Registration for Enrichment Friday this fall is now open, and it will be on a 1st come basis. Click on the link here to get your registration started.
The Friday fee will be $30 for a regular (7:30 - 3:30) day, and $35 for an extended (7:30 - 6:00) day. On the recent questionnaire about who needed help on Friday there were about 280 students with interest. We will need to get students registered this March and April so we can determine how many team members to hire. Once the program needs and staffing are determined, you will pay a deposit to hold your spot, probably the beginning of May. This $60 deposit can be applied to your 1st month of Enrichment Fridays. More information is available on the website. We will provide a sibling preference, so please make sure you register each student you would like to attend on Fridays. If you have any questions please send an email to kelly@sesafter.com. I hope this has been helpful for you. Thank you so much, looking forward to hearing from you, and seeing your students in the fall! Have a great day!
