Spring/Summer P-EBT
This year, all students at schools offering universal meals through CEP and Provision 2 are eligible for the $120 Summer P-EBT benefit, if they are enrolled in May 2023. All public schools in Vermont are participating in CEP and Provision 2 this year, along with many independent schools. This means that all students at these schools will be eligible for the $120 Summer P-EBT benefit. Translations of this text are in progress and will be shared when available.
Rosie's Girls
Rosie’s Girls® is a career exploration program that introduces participants to STEM and the skilled trades through a combination of hands-on projects in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. For more information, here is the link to the camp in Rutland this summer at The Mint.
CCV Virtual Informational Sessions
The Community College of Vermont will be holding two virtual information sessions to explain options for students through CCV’s Early College program. The sessions will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday May 3 and Wednesday May 24 and will cover general information about Early College at CCV and will outline details of the CCV-specific programs: Early College Certificate and The McClure Free Degree Promise.
There will be a short presentation by CCV staff and plenty of opportunities for participants to ask questions about applying to EC at CCV, financial aid for the EC year, and the EC Certificate and McClure Promise programs.
Students, parents, and educators are all welcome. Please share the attached flyer widely. Participants will need to register in order to receive the link for the session.
PAX Needs your help!
PAX -Program of Academic Exchange looking for local families!
PAX - Program of Academic Exchange is searching for two local families to volunteer to host students for the upcoming year, can you help?
What does hosting entail? Students need a bed (they can share a room and we can provide a bunk if needed), a place to study and access to three meals a day (VT schools provide free lunch). They come with full health insurance, spending money for their personal expenses and access to quarterly trips with their group, too (you can join these, too).
Too busy?
Too boring?
Students have plenty of activities available through their
program, more in fact than they have time for, too.
If you have the space to house, the resources to feed, and the heart to welcome, you could be a great host! Please email Kimberly at
keckhardt08@gmail.com to host. Can't do a whole year at this time? That's ok, too, you can sign on for a semester too.
Kids like these are hoping to study in the US next year:
Umar from Kyrgyzstan (m, 15) and Jone from Spain (f, 14) both hope to try out for the cross country team this year, while Mattis from Germany (m, 15), Ioseb from Georgia (m, 16) and Latisya from Indonesia (f, 17) are all looking forward to basketball next winter.
Yashraj from India (m, 16) hopes to run a marathon this year, and his favorite activity is hiking in the hills of home!
Interested in art or cooking? So are Ensar from Kosovo (m, 16), Maya from Germany (f, 15) and Noemie (f, 17) from France.
There are kids from over 70 countries hoping to study in the US for the upcoming year, so if you have other interests, please reach out. I can answer any questions you may have about hosting and find a great student match for your family. Please email Kimberly at keckhardt08@gmail.com for more info and to sign up to host.

11th Grade Students - Green Mountain Boy's State
Green Mountain Boys' State (GMBS) is sponsored by the American Legion of Vermont. The program will be held at Norwich University from Sunday, June 25th-Friday, June 30th. Each school across the state has a predetermined designated number of delegate slots available. Your school has 3 slots that would be endorsed and paid for by your local American Legion Post. You do not need to have a family member who is currently a member to apply. Simply put, if you're interested in working with other rising seniors across the Green Mountain State and to develop some leadership skills, this is for you. If you're interested in attending post high school education, military or the workplace, this is for you. If you are interested in scholarship money to assist you in your future decisions, this is for you. If you are looking to hear from leaders across the state on how you too can become a stronger leader, this is for you.
If you'd like to attend, please complete this form. There will be follow up conversations between GMBS and your school staff prior to making selections. GMBS will promptly follow up with you with additional information once you are accepted.
DEADLINE: Applications must be received no later than May 15th.
