BJH ATHLETIC NEWS AND EVENTS
8TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
Monday night the 8th grade volleyball B team took on Harwood and came out with the dub!! Amazing serves and too many Aces to count kept Harwood out of the game! Servers of the game were Kyra Turner, Natalie Luna, Brylee Young, and Aliya Kershaw. Harwood tried to return the ball but with amazing defensive plays by Addison Smith and Zoey Herring it was hard for Harwood to score. Big hitters of the game were Addyson Williams, Skylar Johnston, and Makenna Standard.
The 8th grade A team also took on Harwood Monday night. The scoreboard showed Harwood as the winner but on the court your Broncos truly won. These athletes put in hard work last week to improve on their serves, defense, and hitting and they did just that last night but fell short.
The Broncos will be taking on Heritage Middle School on Monday at Heritage.
7TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
The 7th grade volleyball team 2 came back in outstanding fashion versus Harwood Monday night to bring home their 2nd win of the season to stay undefeated!
In the first set we fell in a tough match, 25-14. We shook the nerves and came back swinging in set 2 to take a 25-18 win.
In the third and deciding set, Jenna Fuchs took over at the service line and led us to a 15-12 victory.
This was a huge win for us and can't wait to see you all at our first home game next Monday against Heritage! Great job, girls!
7TH GRADE FOOTBALL
Monday night The Bronco C1 team played Central. The Broncos started off slow in the first half allowing the Spartans to take a 14 pt lead. In the 2nd half the Broncos showed offensive power which was led by a 40 yard pass by QB1 Cassius Provong to Levi Boyer. The Broncos scored on a pass from Cassius Provong to Josue Diaz. Needing to cut the lead, the Broncos scored on a extra point touchdown pass from Cassius Provong to Marco Tijerina. Defensive standouts were Gideon Floyd, Dakota Skejeret, Levi Boyer, Marco Tijerina, and Jordan Garcia. The next Game is Monday against Harwood. Come out and support.
The C2 football team fought hard as they kept in reach of a solid Harwood team led by their run game. Despite a close game for the majority of the contest, Harwood was able to pull away for a 12-0 win over our Broncos. Hopefully, the scoreline next week will be in our favor!
Led by a strong running game, the B team got its first win of the season with a final score of 28-19. Celebrating his birthday last night Jahmir Barayuga scored a rushing touchdown. Followed by Joseph Roach with another rushing touchdown and finally, Cody Vongsypraseuth scoring two rushing touchdowns to cap off the night.
The A team started hot then cooled down before the end of the half. Giving the Blackhawks a lead. The Broncos gave a hard fought second half performance. Led by quarterback Braylon Harris, and his pair of touchdowns, the Broncos were able to fight back and score, eating at the Harwood lead.
The boys look to improve and bring the fight to the Heritage Middle School Broncos next week. Come out and support your boys.

BJH GRADING POLICIES
Late Work Policy
It is the philosophy of Bedford Junior High School that allowing a student to not complete all
assignments (and thus receiving a zero on the assignment) is unacceptable. In an effort to ensure that zeroes are kept to a minimum, the following policies will apply to all grades and subjects.
1. If a class assignment or homework assignment is not turned in at the designated time (and therefore late), the student may turn the assignment in to the teacher by 8:20 a.m. the next day past the due date. (For example, if a homework assignment is assigned on a Monday and due on Tuesday during the class time, it will be accepted until 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday.) However, work turned in during this time frame will receive a 30% deduction below the grade earned on the assignment. (For example, a late homework assignment turned in on a Wednesday in the above scenario that was 100% correct would earn a 70% in the teacher gradebook. A late homework assignment turned in on a Wednesday that was 90% correct would earn a 63% in the gradebook since 30% of 90 is 27.)
2. Class assignments or homework assignments not turned in during the above time frames may still be completed in Late Work Lunch Detention (LWLD). The teacher will submit the student’s name on a Google document. Lunch detention is served on the stage in the cafeteria. There is a maximum of 2 days to complete the assignment.
3. Students are responsible for notifying the teacher once work is completed. Work submitted during this time frame will receive a maximum grade of 50. If the work is not completed during this time, students may receive a zero and a referral may be written.
Gradebook Codes
- 0 for students that cannot make up assignment (i.e. cheating, did not turn in the work, or earned a zero on the assignment)
- 1 for students that work is incomplete, potentially turn into a zero or a 50
- X for students that are exempt from assignment
- Z for students that were absent and can get full credit
