Hornet Happenings
News and Updates from the Hollymead PTO
October 2023
Fall Fest Success
The event would not have been possible without the generous contribution of 100 pumpkins from Harris Teeter, hot water and carafes from the Daily Grind, donations from you and the local Buy Nothing community, participation from our volunteers, and support from faculty and staff. Thank you all for making this event a success!
Want to see more events like this throughout the year? We can't do it without you! Look out for opportunities to get involved in this newsletter and on our social channels, complete our volunteer interest form, or make a monetary donation so we can continue to support the students and teachers of Hollymead.
Stock the Lounge for This Week's Parent-Teacher Conferences
There's still time to stock the teachers' lounge for Parent-Teacher Conferences being held this week on October 25 and 26. Sign up today to provide food, beverages, or supplies, or to make a direct donation.
Please drop off all donated items to the Hollymead front office by 1 pm on Wednesday, October 25. Thanks for helping shower our staff with appreciation!
Thanks for Participating in Timberwood Grill's Dining Night Out

Through the program, students will create artwork that can be reproduced onto a variety of keepsake products. The products range from magnets to mugs and start at just $6.00. Complete details on the program will be sent home soon. Proceeds from the program will be used to purchase clay and other art supplies for Hollymead artists. For more information on Original Works, please visit their website at www.originalworks.com.
- ACPS is seeking food service associate substitutes. Working as a food service associate substitute is a great way to be a part of the school day, make some extra money, and still be home when the school day ends. If you or someone you know is interested, please apply on Albemarle County Schools job posting website. Please contact ACPS with any questions about the positions at 434-295-0566.
- ACPS wants your feedback on the Technology & Digital Citizenship Field Guide for ACPS Families. Use this link to read the guide and to provide the ACPS Department of Technology with feedback as they work towards a third edition.
