Middle School Cell Phones
The Superintendent sent out recent communication discussing that each school would have “no cell phone zones.” The purpose of this letter is to explain cell phone use for LPSSA middle school students.
First and foremost, cell phones are not permitted during instructional time, but the students can carry them from class to class. We have a procedure to ensure cell phones are kept in a safe place in the classroom during the instructional period. The students can access them in an emergency, but instructional time is not compromised.
Students can have their cell phones during non-instructional times, such as nutrition break and lunchtime. Students can use their cell phones as they would like, but they must follow the Pleasant Valley School District Acceptable Use Agreement while on campus. We also ask that the students not take pictures or videos of people or the campus, unless it is for a class assignment. Although cell phone use can be challenging to monitor, our students have done a good job overall with this new responsibility.
There are places where we have “no cell phone zones.” In a school as small as LPSSA, there are only a few places where cell phones are not allowed. Specifically, cell phone use is prohibited in the restrooms. We understand students might have them in their pockets, but students cannot take videos, pictures, or use phones when in the restroom. The same rules apply to the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms. Otherwise, students can use their phones during non-instructional time.
I want to reiterate that any cell phone use by students while on campus must follow the provisions outlined in the Pleasant Valley School District Acceptable Use Agreement. In addition, cell phone use is a privilege where the students need to show a high degree of personal responsibility. So far, the majority of our students have done a nice job. I do see that they are capable of making great decisions.

Dudes Do Lunch
Our goal is to give kids a chance to connect with awesome male role models from our community at school! It might be organizing sport or outdoor activities, playing tabletop games, or other fun, engaging ways to build connections, and we’re looking forward to the time, talent, and experiences you will bring to our kids.
LPSSA Dudes have the flexibility to choose their own level of commitment and involvement. If you can stop in weekly or monthly, or even a couple times this year, that’s great. Whenever you are available, your presence will be appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Brad Torti at bradtorti@gmail.com

Covid Protocol Reminders
Students will be sent home without the proper clearance.
Attendance Reminder
Please remember to call in your child’s absence EACH DAY IN THE MORNING for ANY REASON to our Attendance Hotline at (805) 383-5330. Your child will be marked UNEXCUSED if you do not call it in! Illnesses, out of town, appointments, etc., we NEED you to let us know why your child is not at school. It is important for us to keep out Attendance Records correct and up-to-date. We appreciated your assistance in helping us with this task.
