Winter Concerts & Performances...SUCCESS!
CHORUS
The Summit 7th and 8th grade choirs had our Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 13. It was a great concert and we very much appreciate all the family, friends, teachers, and staff who came to listen and support us! I was very proud of the students for the job they did. The students were determined to perform “African Noel” without piano accompaniment, and they worked hard to make sure that they knew it well enough to sing with confidence and performed it very well at the concert. The girls also took on a slightly more challenging than usual piece in “A La Nanita Nana,” fell in love with it as they learned it, and performed it beautifully. I told them it gave me goosebumps, which is a great thing! We are now looking ahead to contest and using the skills we learned in 1st semester to get us ready to sing for judges. Thank you all for your participation and support!
ORCHESTRA
The Summit orchestras culminated a semester of hard work, fun, and fabulous music on December 15th in the Santa Fe HS auditorium. The beginning sixth grade orchestra made their debut on stage with bright smiles and familiar tunes to the audience concluded by a rendition of "Jingle Bells". Our second-year seventh grade orchestra continued spreading holiday cheer and smiles with "Frosty the Snow Man". The eighth grade orchestra was not to be outdone as they took the stage and closed the show with an exciting "Swashbucklers Saga". There were many proud moments for students in the Fall semester and we look forward to the challenges and learning opportunities that 2017 will bring...BAND
We cherish the experience of putting together the Winter Program. For the 6th graders, it is the beginning of a life long love. For the 7th and 8th graders, it is a constant reminder of how important music can be in communicating the feelings that bring us together. We work hard every year to create a little bit of magic for our community and this year was very special! Thank you all for your support!
DRAMA & MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS
7th and 8th grade performed their end of semester plays, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and "The Nightmare Before Christmas," and "A Christmas Carol." 7th grade musical production's 54 students performed a medley of scenes from Broadway musicals.
