CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL

Students in Mrs. L. Schoeffler’s 5th grade Math class worked on a Decimals Project to practice adding and subtracting decimal numbers through a real-life experience.
Students were given job cards which included an occupation, yearly salary, and a breakdown of monthly bills. They then had to total up their monthly bills and calculate how much money would be left over for groceries and luxury items. Students were required to keep a register of their money and make real-life choices based upon needs/wants. Students in photographs below were making “grocery lists” from local sales papers. #slpyeswecan

PARK VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Park Vista Elementary students united to take a stand against bullying on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, for World Bullying Day. Students wore orange shirts and wrote messages or drew pictures on strips of orange paper. The student messages contained positive words, phrases, statements or pictures that would help the students display how they would make their school a safe place for themselves and their peers. Some students chose to write qualities about themselves that made them feel unique and proud of who they are as individuals. Each teacher connected the strips together to form a chain for each class. The chain was then be connected by the PBIS Committee to display a powerful statement about uniting against bullying. #slpStandsUpAgainstBullying
