Important information about changes to school counseling assignments
At the end of each year our School Counseling Department meets as a group to discuss our "challenges" and our "triumphs" . The ongoing changes the educational expectations our students must meet has led us to reconsider how we assign students to school counselors. Beginning this fall the School Counseling Department at H.C. Wilcox will be assigning school counselors to our students based on Last Name rather than by Year of Graduation. We will continue to follow (loop) with our students until graduation. For example, instead of one counselor being assigned to the entire 11th grade class, a counselor will work with students in each grade level based on their last name.
We recognize that many students (and parents) have developed relationships with their current school counselor. Our department has always worked as a team to provide the most comprehensive services to our students and families. We do not intend to change that philosophy. We will continue to be available for ALL students who require assistance.
