This Week at Lenape
Mock Trial
A team of Lenape freshmen competed in the first round of the PA Mock Trial competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association at the Bucks County Justice Center in Doylestown. Students role-played the parts of defense attorneys and witnesses in a fictional case before a Bucks County judge, with local lawyers serving as jurors. The competition required students to become familiar with 100 pages of documentation! The competition is designed for high schoolers, so Lenape was one of the only schools comprised of only freshman participants. The plaintiff team will compete next week in the second round.
Opera Concert
On January 5th, our Chamber Choir was joined by opera singers from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland, including former Lenape Student Evan Byrne for "One Night in Ireland"!
I&E Visitors
8th grade science teacher Mrs. Ciesielski had two visitors to her I&E sessions today. On Tuesday, Mr. Hugo Lentze taught the class the physics and basic knowledge of helicopters. He flew a Black Hawk helicopter. On Wednesday, Ms. Kristen Moschella used her interior design background to help us make a more appealing Science Fair board.
Please reach out if you have a special interest or talent that you'd like to share with our students!
6th Grade Music Assembly
Our music department put on a great assembly on Thursday for 6th graders from our 4 feeder elementary schools. Besides enjoying the musical talents of our fabulous Lenape musicians, the purpose of this assembly was for 6th graders to learn more about our music program. This will help them make more informed choices when it's time to choose their courses for next year.
NJHS Blood Drive
Did you know that the actual blood donation only takes about 10 minutes? The entire process – from the time you sign in – to the time you leave – takes about an hour but can help save a life or three.
On Monday, February 27th, we are hosting the opportunity for you to donate. Please click this link to sign up for our upcoming blood drive or you can visit https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive and search our sponsor code “Lenape”.
Don’t miss this exciting and rewarding opportunity!
Stay well,

HVAC Project Overview
We have begun a renovation project that will provide air conditioning, upgraded lighting, and cosmetic improvements throughout the entire building. The project is scheduled to conclude in the fall of 2024.
The first phase of the project begins in January when ceilings in the corridors will be removed to access and install ductwork. Beginning in March, banks of five to six classrooms will be vacated for periods of approximately six weeks. As a result, many teachers will be moving classrooms at some point during this school year and next school year. To accommodate these moves, we will set up temporary classrooms in the library and the aux gym.
We will continue to share progress updates throughout the project. Although we will face minor inconveniences during this renovation project, the upgrades will make our building more comfortable, more efficient, and more visually appealing.
Edficiency - I&E Scheduling
We have begun using a new program called Edficiency for I&E scheduling. Previously, we were sending a spreadsheet of offerings to students each week and they would sign up using a Sign Up Genius every Friday for the week ahead. We appreciated the student choice that this process provided but found that it was cumbersome and could be difficult for students to get slots with the teachers that they needed to see.
We are excited to begin using Edficiency to streamline the scheduling and accountability process for I&E. Some features of Edficiency include:
- Students will not need to select a place to go each day. They will be automatically scheduled with their teachers.
- They can request specific teachers based on academic needs.
- Teachers can request students for a specific date or range of dates.
- Students can view special I&E sessions that are being advertised.
- Students can rank their teachers based on their needs and can change this at any time.
We are hopeful that Edficiency makes I&E scheduling an easier process for everyone!

Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
