Kudos!

Congratulations to everyone for highlighting our students' work during open house. The classrooms and halls look amazing! A huge thanks goes out to Melissa for assisting with the hit of the night - the Aurasma app projects in our primary grades. The parents were beyond impressed! Much gratitude is also extended to Melissa for her help with the book fair. Also, Barbara Johnson - thanks for displaying the creative art projects. kudos! Finally, thanks to Vicki and Zohaib for allowing and helping the Student Council serve the ice cream!

Writing Reflections...

Many grade levels are cycling though a genre of writing for a second time this year. We are also at a point in the year where you might consider releasing more responsibility of the writing over to students. What could this mean for our dedicated writing time?


Here are some questions to consider:


· When conferring, are students articulating exactly what they’re working on as a writer?

· Are students able to determine and explain their next steps as a writer?

· Can students explain areas of strength and weakness in their writing and set short term goals based on this? (Consider how the student checklist is being used)

· How are writing partners responding to each other’s work? (Consider how students are giving feedback to one another)


As you reflect on your dedicated writing time, is there a next step you can take with your students to foster more independence in their writing?

Notes and Reminders

  • Please note - the following will not be renewed next year: Study Island, Reading A to Z, Math Facts in a Flash, and Wixie. There are online leveled readers (like the ones Reading A to Z offers) through the Schoolwide Reading program. We will keep IXL math.
  • Next year, our NON-DEB day will be on Wednesdays. Each building has been assigned a specific day of the week (either Wednesday or Thursday) in which there will be no DEB and SpEd meetings and problem solving will occur.
  • The last day for LRC usage will be May 29th, per the district.
  • Please spend your PTO money if you haven't yet. Use the tax exempt letter when you make your purchase.
  • Online registration for next year opened on April 15th. Through the end of the school year, in your communication with parents, please encourage them to register online. These reminders are especially important for students going into third and fifth grade as these grades will potentially split. So, I would appreciate any help from second and fourth-grade teachers in reminding your parents to register their children.
