ABC 12 Athlete of the Week - Lennox Naswell, 8th Grade
Fenton AGS 8th grader Lennox Naswell is already beating adults in long-distance running.
He just won the Crim Festival of Races 5K. "I'm surprised that guy didn't catch me at the end," said Naswell, who won with a time of 16:50. "He was right behind me at the halfway mark. But then I didn't hear him." Naswell also placed 2nd in the USA Jr Olympics in the 1500 meters. "My 1500 meter time was 14:20.80. So, second fastest 13-year-old in the country," said Naswell. Recently, Naswell broke the Fenton Middle School record in the two mile with a time of 10:44.
Congratulations Lennox! We are very proud of your hard work and your outstanding accomplishments!

Next Week's Theme: Teamwork
WHAT DOES TEAMWORK MEAN?
You work well as a member of a group or
team. You are loyal, reliable, and dedicated
to helping your team achieve its goals.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
People who demonstrate teamwork often
work to help all group members find
success. Teamwork is associated with
naturally positive feelings that come with
being a member of a family, team, school,
or group. Practicing the Other People
Mindset is an important part of being a
member of a successful team.
“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is
progress, and working together is success.”

Middle School Health Curriculum
*The communication, below, was sent in a separate email on Wednesday, August 30 *
We have changed the format in which our Health Curriculum will be delivered. The curriculum will be delivered, by PE/Health teachers, in SRT class throughout the school year. This will begin on September 12 and will continue until the end of the year. The teachers will teach approximately 4 lessons/units for 30 minutes during SRT. Attached below is a health letter that contains more information. Additionally, a health waiver form is attached. The waiver is only required for those who choose to OPT OUT of the district mandated health class. Students will receive a copy of the letter and waiver 2 weeks prior to taking health class. If you choose the OPT OUT option, please return the waiver before health class begins. You may print the form attached to this email and return it to the main office at any time or complete/return the form when your student receives it 2 weeks prior to class. There are also additional copies in the main office. We will be posting updates in the AGS NEWS, including a schedule of when the class will be taught in your child's SRT.
Please contact the main office (810 591 7700) with any questions. Thank you!

Counselors' Corner
P2 (Positivity Project)-
Please feel free to check out your students P2 Google Classroom where we help support students in building positive character strengths. This year students will have the opportunity to complete a P2 check-in, twice a month. The P2 check-in is not mandatory, but helps us gather information on the climate and culture of our building. By completing the P2 check-in students have the opportunity to self-reflect, increase self-awareness, and receive additional support if desired. Here at AGS we want all of our students to experience positive relationships and possess the ability to build upon their character strengths. P2 check-in is an additional tool that promotes these concepts.
JOIN THE COUNSELING GOOGLE CLASSROOM- Please feel free to join this to read what we're sharing with your students. We include information related to emotional/mental health, self-care, appropriate socialization & peer interactions & a number of upcoming topics. This is the forum where counselors post information for our students, including clubs & lessons. There is also a form students are able to complete, in order to make an appointment with their assigned counselor.

AGS Pick Up/Drop Information
DROP OFF / PICK UP LOOP
We realize that school drop off and pick up loop procedures are not the most convenient. However, please understand that the safety of AGS students will always be our first priority. The current procedure is considered to be the safest approach as endorsed by the Fenton Police Department and County Traffic Engineers. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during the morning and afternoon drop off/pick times.
Things to remember:
- The loop off of Shiawassee is for PARENT drop off / pick up
- Students may be dropped off across Donaldson Drive
- There is a crossing guard at Donaldson Drive during drop off and pick up
- There are over 2000 students arriving and departing in the same vicinity (AGS/FHS)
- The Donaldson (front) Loop and Entrance is for Bus Traffic Only
- After 7:30 AM, please drop students off at the front entrance (off of Donaldson Drive)
Thank you again for keeping our AGS Students safe! It could be worse ... check out the school below! Crazy Loop!!
