HALL OF FAME 2021
- Michael J. Cavanaugh Sr. - Michael was a graduate of VHS and coach for Cross Country and Track & Field. He helped coach 5 State Championship Cross Country teams as well as individual state competitors.
- Karen Devries - A 20+ year Cross Country Head Coach and Five time State Champion.
- Gioia Family - Dan, Tom, Dave & Carl - Dan was a contributor as a coach, referee and soccer announcer. Tom, Dave and Carl were all VHS graduates lettering in football & track, soccer and football respectively.
- Alana Hancock - Harrington - VHS graduate and three sport athlete in basketball, volleyball and softball. Alana helped her team advance to the single State Final Four two years in a row.
- Mark A. Hoffman - 35 year career at VHS as Head Football & Boys Track & Field Coach, Assistant Girls Track Coach and Athletic Director. Among his accomplishments includes 2 semi-State and 6 Regional Championships.
- Jones Family - Dan Sr., Jennifer, Jessica, Colleen, Dan Jr. & Marcus - Dan Sr. a VHS graduate and Coach. All 5 children were VHS graduates lettering in swim, track and field and cross country.
- Clint Keithley - 2000 VHS graduate and tennis player. He went 21-1 his senior year losing only in the State Semi-finals.
- Kathy "Lev" Levandoski - VHS graduate and one of the first female sports stars in basketball and softball. Lev was also a coach and athletic trainer at VHS. Lev was the first Indiana Ms. Softball.
- Chuck Nightingale - 1967 VHS graduate, excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He was named quarterback in the first North/South Indiana All Star Game.
- Jeffery Allen Rybak - 1984 VHS graduate who played football and baseball. He was the only athlete to pitch 4 no hitters in one week.
- Charles Edwin Stanier - VHS Football and Wrestling Coach in the 1960's and 1970's. He coached 3 undefeated football teams, including 1 State Championship team.
- Rick Underwood - 1970 VHS graduate lettering in both football and track. He was a tailback on the football team, leading the team to an undefeated season.
- Cindy Willis-Douthett - 1982 VHS graduate. Cindy competed in three sports; basketball, diving and track. She led the girls basketball team to the State Championship game during the 1981 - 1982 season.
SCORES & HIGHLIGHTS
BOYS BASKETBALL
- JV ended the game winning 63-22. Matt Hofer led in points and rebounds with 14 and 4 respectively.
- Varsity won 67-22. Mason Jones led with 17 points. Derrick Brooks followed him with 12 points and Connor McCall led with 6 rebounds.
12/11 - It was the Hall of Fame induction night and our Vikings did not let us down! Freshmen, JV and Varsity all defeated Kankakee Valley.
- FR won 53-36. Julian Stokes scored 11 points for the Vikings.
- JV won big, 42-23. Alec Platipodis led the team with 9 points.
- Varsity dominated winning 73-40. Mason jones led the team with 18 points and 4 rebounds, Breece Walls was right behind him with 17 points and 3 assists.
12/14 - One of the area's top teams, 21st Century Charter, traveled to VHS and the Vikings were up to the challenge. JV and Varsity both had good wins.
- JV won 45-22. Led by Matt Hofer with 10 points and Alec Platipodis with 10 rebounds.
- Varsity finished 71-55. Blaine Dalton scored big with 17 points as did Mason Jones with 19 points. Adler Hazlett had a great game adding 10 points. (Photo Credit Palmer Photography)
12/16 - The Freshmen Boys team came up short against Merrillville, losing 42-49. It was a tough fight with the whole team giving their all.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
- JV lost by 1 point, 25-26. Becca Cavanaugh was the lead scorer with 5 points.
- Varsity lost 35-43. Campbell MacLagan led the team with 12 points. Bolanle Ayangade was next with 7 points and 5 rebounds. Emma Gerdt led the team with 6 rebounds.
12/11 - The Lady Vikings traveled to Whiting and both teams left with a win!
- JV won 57-14. Mackenzie Wasserman led with 11 points.
- Varsity dominated, winning 56-10. Bolanle Ayangade and Emma Gerdt led with 13 points each. Bo also led the team in rebounds with 3.

- Luke Thiel - 170 lb - 1st place
- Nate Brumfield - 160 lb - 3rd place
- Dylan McGuire - 220 lb - 3rd place
- Sam Gootee - 170 lb - 4th place
- Brian Alvarez - 182 lb - 4th place
- Laila Collins - 220 lb - 6th place
12/15 - The Viking lost a heartbreaker to LaPorte on Senior Night 33-36. Congratulations to all of our Senior Wrestlers: Chandler Antrim, Dominick Baumgardner, Alex Bennett, Aidan Clifford, Josh Gill, Nathan Perry, Pierce Pine, Connor Svantner & Stefan Vitello. The following wrestlers won in last night's match:
