School Board Resolution Regarding Continuous Improvement and Measuring Achievement
At the April 28 School Board meeting, board members approved a resolution that states HRCSD will not participate in the Oregon State Assessments in the spring of 2021 in order to preserve the remaining instructional time for this academic year for the purpose of instruction and social emotional support for our students. HRCSD will provide the Oregon State Assessments to those students who request it or to any student whose parent/guardian requests it. Requests should be made directly to the school principal by early May to allow for preparation of testing. For the remainder of this school year, HRCSD will continue to administer our district formative and diagnostic assessments in reading and math to establish baseline data to inform learning recovery for our students. HRCSD will resume participation in the Oregon State Assessments for the 2021-22 school year.
Safe Routes to School
Family Help Request
Our morning check-in procedure makes tardiness a much more difficult task. I appreciate your help in ensuring your students arrive at school between 8:25-8:40 AM. Class begins promptly at 8:40 AM. I also appreciate your help in reinforcing our cell phone policy at home. Phones should turned off between 8:40 AM-1:10 PM during the school week. Our office is always available to deliver notes to students and have students call home if necessary. Thank you for helping us keep our students focused on learning.
National Teacher Appreciation Week
We celebrate our teachers the week of May 3-7. I am grateful for the work of our teachers. Hood River Middle School is blessed with a talented and dedicated teaching staff. Our teachers go above and beyond standard expectations to create unique and engaging learning experiences for the kids. Please join me in thanking the teachers of Hood River Middle School!
