Christy Edwards, Math Teacher
Hello. I am really excited to be teaching algebra and geometry at Kokomo High School this year. Kokomo has been my home since 1978, and I am a Wildkat fan. I came to Kokomo as an engineering coop student working at Delco Electronics. I graduated from General Motors Institute with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1982 and obtained a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Purdue University in 1983. I married Roger in 1982 and worked in engineering at Delco Electronics for 20 years. I left Delco to spend more time with my daughters, Brittany and Amy. I was a Girl Scout leader, PTA president, popcorn mom, band booster treasurer and a Sunday school teacher. When Amy was in middle school, I reentered the job market as a virtual classroom supervisor at Kinsey Youth Center. I enjoyed working with everyone at Kinsey. Last August, I left Kinsey to teach math. In addition to teaching, I am currently taking education classes at Indiana Wesleyan University.
I enjoy KHS. Both my daughters attended Kokomo Schools. Brittany graduated from KHS in 2013. She is currently a junior at Purdue University. Amy is a senior this year. I enjoy watching the football and basketball games. I am a Kokomo WildKat.
Tamegnon Demagbo, French Teacher
I grew up in Benin (West African French Speaking Countries) where I received all my education from preschool to University. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching (University of Indianapolis), a Master of Business Administration (International Institute of Management, Benin & Belgium), and a Master of Arts in Linguistics and African Studies (Benin). I taught French as a primary language and English as a Second Language in Benin for 9 years, and worked at the US Embassy in Benin as an International Education Advisor for 3 years. I have been in the US with my family for 3 years. I taught French in Herron High School, Indianapolis, for 2 years, and now I am now enjoying teaching French (levels 1, 2 and 3) at Kokomo High School. I also take delight in animating two international hubs and the French club. I am married and the father of 2 daughters and a son, and we live in Kokomo, the city of the first.
5-Minute Tech Tip
Plickers is a great resource for a quick checks-for-understanding when doing non-formative assessments. A great data tool that is FREE and students think is a game!
