Reading, Writing, Vocab and Word Study
Reading--We will read like historians with our whole-class novel I Survived the Battle of Gettysburg. We will work on sticky note summaries, character traits and analysis, and elements of fiction (plot, setting, theme, etc). Students will also have time daily for independent reading.
Writing--We will be writing like historians! In small groups, students will be selecting a person or place important to the Civil War to do research on in order to build more background knowledge for our book. They will work in groups to present their findings to the class.
