Panther Pause
21 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
1.26.18
Panthers,
WOW...that is truly the only word I can use to describe this week for me. I had the opportunity last night to attend The Sound of Music, a production by our Fine Arts Department, and it was truly a Fine Arts Production - from the sets, to the musicians in the pit, and of course, to the actors on the stage. The Sound of Music is truly a professional caliber show that is presented by high school students!! WOW!! There are several opportunities to see this amazing performance, and I highly suggest that you make plans to attend one.
As for the rest of the campus, we are in full spring semester swing. The next two months are the most important instructionally, because this is where our students take their learning to the next step and truly extend their skill level beyond what they thought possible. It is also the busiest time of year for our extracurricular activities in basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, wrestling, tennis, golf, track and swimming since they are in full swing in their competitive seasons. And our cheer, dance, winter guard, band, and choir students are also continuing to prepare for their upcoming competitions. As you can tell, it is a very busy time at CHHS, and I would encourage you to find an opportunity to come and support our students. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!!

Student Voice
Define what PRIDE means to you at CHHS.
For me, PRIDE is simply that: being proud of the welcoming community that has been built here at CHHS. PRIDE is recognizing how unique the interactions between students and teachers are, and then striving to not only replicate that personally, but to foster that goal in others. I've honestly been surprised at how relationships with teachers develop during the year -- they really do try to establish a personal connection with each and every student to ensure individual success. However, that quality is present not only in the faculty, but also in the student body. Walking through the halls here at Colleyville Heritage can be hectic at times, but there's always someone that says hi, whether it's a friend, a teacher, or even Dr. Groppel. The warm welcome all students receive here every day is unparalleled. PRIDE is not only recognizing that quality, but doing all one can to pass it forward.

THE COLLEGE FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE
- Do you know how to make sure you can access your child's grades once they are 18 and in college?
- Does your child know the difference between an Urgent Care center and an ER when they are ill away from home?
- Do your kids have their own bank account and know how to access it?
Mrs. Bures will share insights for students about contacting professors, money management, and staying involved, healthy, and active during the important first-year transition. Parents will learn about HIPAA and FERPA, so they can access to their child's grades and personal information while in college. For more information, contact Debra Hurley at vpprograms@chhsptsa.org.
