Winter Spirit Week
Our All-Student Body has put together a fun week to prepare us for our winter pep assembly on Thursday, January 26th. Anything but a backpack is a way for students to get creative in how they carry their school supplies to, from, and around campus. There are specific guidelines for our “anything but a back-pack” day students received through advisory. Please check in with your student about their plan.
Winter Ball - Bag and Coat Check Required
We have the Winter Ball coming up on January 28th. Winter Ball tickets are available for purchase during lunch. As a reminder to all students and families, all bags and coats must be checked.

Freshman Open Campus Lunch Beginning Semester 2
Starting Semester 2, freshmen will have access to go off-campus during lunch. Now is a good time to have a conversation with your student about whether or not that is the right choice for them.
The late-work deadline is Friday, January 27th.
Cookies ‘n’ Cram
The focus of Cookie ‘n’ Cram is to study and prepare for finals. We will be holding our Cookies ‘N’ Cram event on the afternoon of the early release Friday on January 27th from 12:40 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We will have tutors, teachers and cookies available in the tutoring center in the library.
Finals Schedule : January 30th, January 31st, and February 1st.
Lost and Found (repeat)
During finals week, we are going to be putting out our lost and found. Over those three days, please instruct your students to stop by and pick up any item that is theirs that they have misplaced over the course of the first semester. Following the three days of finals week, all remaining items will be donated.
Family Resource Center: Rapid Access Network
Thurston High School has partnered with 15th Night, a local community partner focused on supporting all students to have access to the resources they need to thrive. 15th Night has a special focus on students who are navigating homelessness.
Thanks to this partnership, Thurston High School has established a digital "Rapid Access Network" (RAN). This network of community allies helps match student and family needs with resources provided by community partners and donors.
To access this network, students or families can make a confidential request from any Thurston staff member who can then send out a confidential request for resources to meet that need.

From the Student Services Office
Thurston Student Services - Attendance Hotline (541-744-5027)
80% of students are attending every class period.
88% of students are on-time to class each day for the previous week.
As we have entered this final stretch of the Semester, please connect with your students about the importance of being in every class, every day to maximize their success.
Help us hit our target of 95% daily attendance, with every student missing no more than 1 absence per month.
Attendance 101 - Do I need to call? Yes!
Student attendance matters. Students who attend regularly (no more than 1 absence per month) have the best chance of academic success. This year, automatic calls will be made when students are absent. Families are encouraged to proactively communicate with the school attendance office at 541-744-5027.
