Happy New Year from the Principals

Let us begin by wising you all a Happy New Year filled with many successes and continued progress. During winter break, we hope you had the chance to catch up with friends and family along with some well deserved relaxation.

The New Year is a celebration of new beginnings and an opportunity to reflect on the past year. Here at Gaylord Intermediate it is no different for our staff and students. Looking back on the start of the 2022-23 school year we are able to reflect on some great things happening:

  • Our school year started with a sense of normalcy that we have not had in some time. We were able to offer a face to face open house which kicked off a great start to the school year.
  • For the first time, GIS is able to offer a STEM class along with an updated lab for our students.
  • In late Fall we were able to add two new fixtures to our playground, a climbing wall and a four person teeter totter. This spring we will be adding another Gaga Pit for students as well.
  • We were also able to bring back our 4th & 5th grade Holiday concerts, along with our 6th grade Holiday band concert.

It has been an excellent start to the school year and an even better way to end 2022. These next few weeks students will be finishing up our mid year iReady diagnostic as well as our Winter NWEA testing to cap the end of the semester.

With a new semester approaching we look forward to new beginnings as well. A new semester, much like a new year, gives an opportunity for change. With the start of a semester students have an opportunity to set new goals and face new challenges. We look forward to supporting your student(s) as they navigate those challenges and will continue to provide quality learning opportunities to achieve their goals.

Thank you for all your support so far this school year and continued support as we look for a great second half.

Educationally yours,

Sean Byram, Principal

Alan Dawe, Assistant Principal

Lost and Found Items

Our Lost and Found is starting to stack up here at GIS. If your student has lost any items at school since the beginning of the year, please have them talk to their teacher about checking our Lost and Found down in the gym foyer. If you are interested in checking the Lost and Found, please enter through the Main Office after the school day between 2:45 and 3:30.

Thank you
