News You Can Use

Presidents' Note
Despite what TV or movies have portrayed, PTA Membership is about more than just bake sales and membership coffees. The RES PTA is a dynamic organization made up of a small army of parents and caregivers who all have one thing in common; a desire to make RES a better place for their child. That may look like a volunteer planting flowers outside the Main Office, decorating a beautiful cultural bulletin board inside the school, planning events for RES Staff Appreciation events or even raising money by purchasing items from Charleston Wrap (there's still time, by the way!) From Advocacy to STEM and International Festival, there are many ways for parents and caregivers to participate in a small, meaningful way. Simply signing up for a membership for $25 at resctpta.membershiptoolkit.org is lending your support for our cause.
The PTA doesn't function without YOU! In person or over zoom, stapling packets during the day or sending a few emails after the kids are in bed- we've got a spot for you! Curious? We are hosting a virtual Volunteer Orientation in May for those new to RES or simply looking for a new way to get involved. Keep your eye on Tuesday Newsday for the exact date and Zoom info!
In the meantime, here are a few immediate needs!
-Host a table at International Festival
-Assist with the PTA Movie Night
-Join our Fall Auction Committee
Thank you to all of those who have lent a hand, taken on a new position or simply shown up! We are grateful for your time, energy and ideas! You are the SPIRIT of the RES PTA!

4th Grade Yearbook
Many parents have sent photos so we have been sorting through, tagging, and "filing". We are currently making sure we have photos of each child! Next step is for our yearbook rep to lay out the pages with our photos.
We will need your help with proofreading once the page layouts are completed in late March/early April! Final due date is April 23rd!
*If you would like to help "tag" photos or proofread the book and review pages, please let us know!

Grab-and-Go Meals
Reminder: Grab-and-Go meals are available for pick up to all students this year, regardless of financial need. We urge families to take advantage of the opportunity for healthy meals on the go to support students learning from home. Regular meal pick up at Joel Barlow High School will provide a nutritional boost to hard-working students with little to no preparation needed.
Please feel free to contact David Kennedy at David.Kennedy@compass-usa.com or Deena Robushi at drobushi@er9.org with any questions or concerns.
In case you missed it -- March PTA meeting

Learn more about the committee's efforts and events at its website here.
Employer Donation Matching
As we approach the end of the year, you may be thinking about charitable donations. The RES PTA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and if our work is valuable to you, you can consider making an angel donation right here, or by mailing it to the RES PTA at 33 Lonetown Rd., Redding, CT 06896.
We'd also like to remind you that your employer might be like Thomson Reuters -- a company that generously matches employee gifts to local nonprofits doing the work communities rely on. If that's the case, please let us know, and we'll help you complete all the paperwork you need to make it happen!
