GENERAL HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING INFORMATION:
- Don't miss important information and deadlines; get the Remind app! We invite and encourage both students and parents to sign up for REMIND text messaging. - PSAT and SAT scores from the spring are in! If your student hasn't already done so, please have them stop by the counseling office and pick up their test scores. Students who took the PSAT last year can set up an individualized study plan through the Khan Academy link on the College Board website to help them better prepare for the SAT's. On average, students who spend 20-hours studying through their Khan Academy study plan improved their SAT scores by 115 points. Students can also complete a series of six steps through College Board as they test and prepare for college and get entered into various scholarship opportunities. Learn more about this at https://pages.collegeboard.org/scholarship-opportunities-from-collegeboard.
ATTENTION: Juniors
ATTENTION: Seniors
- There will be a MANDATORY Senior parent/student information night on September 24th at 6:00 pm here at SSAE. We will share information about your students senior year events, expectations, and deadlines, along with college information. Herff Jones will also be here to talk about senior graduation orders (caps, gowns, announcements, class rings, and senior gear) and will be handing out order packets.
- Cap and gown fitting forms are due by September 24th. Please make sure your senior has completed this form and turned it into Mrs. Swann. Blank forms are available in the counseling office or can be picked up from the front desk. Students should have received an email, to their student email accounts, from Mrs. Swann with a blank form attached. These can be printed, filled out and scanned and emailed back, as well. No money is due at this time, but to ensure that we have proper fitting gowns for all of our graduates we need to get these submitted to Herff Jones as soon as possible.
- SSAE will be hosting a FAFSA night on October 8th from 5:30-7:00 pm here at the school. There will be financial aid representatives here to assist your family in filling out the free federal financial student aid application. If your student will be attending college after high school, this is an excellent opportunity to get the information and guidance you need when filing for financial aid (loans, grants, & work-study). Free childcare will be available for younger siblings, and because this falls during your dinnertime window, we will have food for you, as well. Filing for financial aid early is important; please take advantage of this free help and sign up today. Please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A4EAAA92EA1FD0-fafsa
