Fall is in the air! September will be a month of hard work for World Language students. They have a midterm project and a midterm exam, but we will have a review of the semester as preparation for the mid-semester exam with games and activities that help them with their vocabulary.
Also, Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 to celebrate the contributions that Hispanic and Latino Americans have made to our society. Latino culture has had a huge influence on the USA from its birth. To celebrate, we will be talking more deeply about the music, food, and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.

Concurrent Enrollment and Career Start opportunities at Springs Studio

Please see the attached Applied and Advanced Learning Presentation that I reviewed with our 10th and 11th grade students yesterday about Concurrent Enrollment and Career Start opportunities at Springs Studio. Students were given flyers about both programs and application forms. Please review this information with your student and if they are interested please have them fill out and return the application forms to Amanda Pethtel, Dean of Academics, by September 13th.

  • Don't miss important information and deadlines; get the Remind app! • PSAT and SAT scores from the spring are in! If your student hasn't already done so, please have them stop by the counseling office and pick up their test scores. Students who took the PSAT last year can set up an individualized study plan through the Khan Academy link on the College Board website to help them better prepare for the SAT's. On average, students who spend 20-hours studying through their Khan Academy study plan improved their SAT scores by 115 points. Students can also complete a series of six steps through College Board as they test and prepare for college and get entered into various scholarship opportunities. Learn more about this at

Sand Creek High School has been so kind as to allow for us to send some students to their campus for the PSAT/NMSQT assessment, which will take place on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:30 am. This is an optional assessment but can be an excellent opportunity for your student to prepare for the SAT as well as potentially qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Program allows students to compete for national recognition and college scholarships. Please see the following link for more information about the NMSQT: Students interested in testing must go to Sand Creek High School and register with Barb Johnson, the Athletic Secretary, and pay the $20.00 fee before September 16th. Space is limited and therefore is first come first served. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Thank you.

  • There will be a MANDATORY Senior parent/student information night on September 24th at 6:00 pm here at SSAE. We will share information about your students senior year events, expectations, and deadlines, along with college information. Herff Jones will also be here to talk about senior graduation orders (caps, gowns, announcements, class rings, and senior gear) and will be handing out order packets.

  • Cap and gown fitting forms are due by September 24th. Please make sure your senior has completed this form and turned it into Mrs. Swann. Blank forms are available in the counseling office or can be picked up from the front desk. Students should have received an email, to their student email accounts, from Mrs. Swann with a blank form attached. These can be printed, filled out and scanned and emailed back, as well. No money is due at this time, but to ensure that we have proper fitting gowns for all of our graduates we need to get these submitted to Herff Jones as soon as possible.

  • SSAE will be hosting a FAFSA night on October 8th from 5:30-7:00 pm here at the school. There will be financial aid representatives here to assist your family in filling out the free federal financial student aid application. If your student will be attending college after high school, this is an excellent opportunity to get the information and guidance you need when filing for financial aid (loans, grants, & work-study). Free childcare will be available for younger siblings, and because this falls during your dinnertime window, we will have food for you, as well. Filing for financial aid early is important; please take advantage of this free help and sign up today. Please sign up here:
