The industrial Revolution was late and slow and only arrived in places like the Basque Country, Cataloia and the large cities. Most of the population still worked in the fields with undevelopment technology and England and Germany start to use the machinery. the steam locomotive and steamship became the main forms of transport. First train line was between Barcelona and Mataró and was upend in 1848.

Bourgeoisie became rich became the dominant social class and the poorest lower classes like factory workers. The industrial revolution brought serious social problems like the pollution, very bad working conditions and child exploitation in factories
