Weekly G.R.I.P. Winners

All HRE students know about G.R.I.P. - an acronym which stands for Gratitude Respect Integrity Purpose. Students may earn "GRIP SLIPS" by demonstrating any one of these character traits. Each week, teachers draw one name from their classroom Grip Slips and that student is the Grip Slip winner for the week from that classroom. Those names are then entered into a weekly drawing per grade level; one name is drawn per grade level and those students come to the office to choose a small prize. We are pleased to announce our Grip Slip winners for the week:

Kindergarten: Eli Vetter from Mrs. Norton's class was caught showing Respect.

1st Grade: Eli Creakbaum from Mrs. Westerfield's class was caught showing Respect.

2nd Grade: Rocky Duplessis from Mrs. Lisa's class was caught showing Purpose.

3rd Grade: Deon Upshaw from Miss Parrish's class was caught showing Purpose.

4th Grade: Breck Guffey from Miss Pall's class was caught showing Purpose.

What's Cooking?

Breakfast will be available Monday - Friday at 8:40am for students who wish to purchase it. Hot and cold selections will be available. Student “lunch” accounts will be charged. For complete breakfast and lunch menus, please click here.

Lunch Menu for the week of January 4th

Monday: No School

Tuesday: No School

Wednesday: No School

Thursday: Ravioli with Garlic Toast and Broccoli

Friday: Potato Crunch Fish Shapes with Mac&Cheese and Carrots

Please remember to check your student’s lunch account and make sure to replenish it if necessary. All lunch accounts with a negative balance of $20 or more will be sent to collections per HSE District policy. The cost per student breakfast is $1.25 and per student lunch is $2.60. When sending in lunch money please be sure to include the child’s first and last name, teacher name and student ID on the payment envelope.

Fresh fruit , veggies and milk are always offered with lunch.

PBJ, Turkey Sandwich, Chef Salad or Pizza Pack (Gogurt brand yogurt, cheese, pita bread & marinara) will be offered daily as an alternative lunch choice.

*No pork is served; we use turkey-based products.

Fourth Grade Kickball Tournament

What an exciting kickball tournament we had at Hoosier Road! The championship game was played today and we are excited to announce that Mrs. May's class won! Thank you again to the fourth grade teachers, students, and families for your help with this project. We are so excited to have raised over $400 for Braeburn Elementary.

New Dismissal Procedures for 2018

Safety for your child is a focus for us. One place that we can be more efficient and safer is to improve our dismissal process. With more and more daily bus notes, pick up notes and students going in so many different directions each day, it has become increasingly important for Hoosier Road Elementary School to find a more efficient system that ensures our students arrive at their proper destination safely each day. Therefore, we have adopted an electronic dismissal management system called School Dismissal Manager. This system is being implemented in other elementary schools in HSE. This web-based program allows you, the parent, to schedule and update your child(ren)’s dismissal plans at the click of a button on your mobile device or laptop computer. This new system will allow parents to communicate your child's change in dismissal plans safely, easily and quickly! It is intended to replace notes and phone calls to the office since all the information you enter can be viewed by school staff. Please note: This is for end-of-day transportation changes only, including car-riders, YMCA, bus riders and after school activities. It is not to be used for requesting an early dismissal for your child(ren) for doctor's appointments, etc. or for reporting absent or tardy students.

We will begin using this system on Monday, January 8, 2018. On Friday, January 5, 2018, you will receive an email from School Dismissal Manager with instructions, your username and a temporary password to set up your student's dismissal plans.

HRE Pacer Night March 15th

Look in your student's backpack today for a packet outlining how you may take advantage of a special offer by the Indiana Pacers and enjoy a basketball game with other HRE families. This is NOT a fundraiser - merely an opportunity for our families to get together and do something fun! Please note that the packets are due back to school no later than February 7th.
