Message from the Principal
Dear Central Road Families,
Happy December! Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our student’s learning. We could not do it without you!
Our staff is encouraging students to turn their cameras on while they are virtually learning. Please have your child work in an area that is quiet, where they can sit up, and have a distraction-free background. Observing students while they are learning is an assessment tool teachers continuously utilize while they are instructing. Through observation, we are able to determine if students are grasping concepts and engaged. Keeping cameras on also increased students’ engagement. Staff will be integrating hand signals into their instruction as a tool to promote discourse and support engagement during learning. I am attaching examples of hand signals students will be encouraged to use to express their thinking, so families can encourage students to participate.
Central Road is overwhelmed by the generosity of our families for our holiday gift program. If you are donating gifts, please drop them off in our foyer area and leave them on one of our benches. Gifts should be labeled with the family number and child’s age and gender. The gifts will be moved into our building each day, and sorted by family. Please drop off your gifts by Friday, December 11th.
Families that are participating in our holiday program please come to Central Road, Wednesday, December 16th through Friday, December 18th to pick-up your holiday gifts. A staff member will greet you in the foyer and provide you with your holiday bundle.
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmly,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
Hour of Code
On Tuesday, December 8th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. the Department of Innovation and Instructional Technology will be hosting a live Facebook event to correspond to the 2020 Hour of Code. This Code-Along event is an opportunity for students, families, community members, to join together to learn more about coding, and complete some coding activities at home!

New this year: Since we’re all stuck at home, let’s get the whole family involved! Parents, siblings, and pets are welcome to participate.
