Weekly Message from Mr. Hanzeli
Spring from this date forward always feels like there are so many things to do and so little time to do them all :-) I'd like to share with you a few items of interest in regard to Elger Bay.
- Camp Elger Bay 2022 (5th Grade): The fifth grade staff is currently hard at work planning four days of camp like activities for the week of June 6 - June 9. Monday of that week they will be on a guided field trip to Cama Beach and during the other three days virtual camp type activities will be planned for right here at Elger Bay. We are very excited so please stay tuned for more details coming very soon. In the meanwhile, APPROVED VOLUNTEERS WILL BE NEEDED. Please begin the volunteer approval process as soon as you can so that you will be eligible to help out with some or all of the Camp Elger Bay 2022 experience!
- VOLUNTEERS ("camp" and others): The following three hot links provide you what is needed to complete the volunteer application process.

Friday Family Message, April 15, 2022 (Repeat)
Hello Families,
Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone had the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.
When school opened last fall, I was optimistic that we would continue to have in-person instruction and committed to providing students with the necessary instruction to help close learning gaps due to COVID-19. My optimism and commitment remain steadfast. I look forward to a continued focus on the essential learning standards for students at their current grade level, while including any missed learning students need along the way. Referred to as accelerated learning, this is a departure from what was typically done, which was remediation. With renewed enthusiasm, I am hopeful that our continued efforts to create an academic environment that reduces learning loss will provide an opportunity for all students to achieve success.
Replacement Levy - remember to vote by April 26
Schools in Washington State receive funding primarily in three ways: state funds based on student enrollment, federal funds for special programs, and levies/bonds. The $10.3 million in revenues from our proposed Replacement Capital Projects and Technology Levy would fund technology updates, upgrades, and maintenance for our students and staff. The levy will also ensure we maintain our schools’ roofs, fire safety systems, playground equipment, and boilers.
Please click HERE to watch the video on our YouTube channel to learn more about how this levy impacts the education of our students at every level and maintains our facilities to serve them and our community. Please return your ballot by mail postage-free or use the convenient drop boxes near the Stanwood Library, at 9701 271st St NW for Snohomish County voters, and the Island County Administration Building at 121 N East Camano Drive on Camano Island for Island County voters. For complete information about the levy, visit www.stanwood.wednet.edu/levy.
The last day of school is now June 20, 2022
