Principal Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
This has been such a full week of learning and fun! While I love all the excitement of the first days of school, our first full week is when we really see routines and instruction fall into place. As we get to know your children and their strengths, we have the opportunity to tailor our teaching and programming to meet their needs. I love visiting classrooms and seeing our students hard at work, making connections, and developing new skills.
Next week is our first “Late Start” day on Wednesday, September 1st. These Late Start days are designed for teachers to participate in professional learning that is not only tailored for their specific needs (just like kids!) but also aligns with our district and school mission. On Wednesday we will focus on a new vision for literacy across our district and how we can use literacy progress monitoring assessments to adjust our teaching. We will also get an updated training on composting in our building. (We are very proud to be a Green Star School as part of the EcoCycle Program!) Throughout the year we will continue this literacy learning as well as focus on further building out our leadership programming at all levels. Lifelong learning is a valuable part of our profession!
There are 8 “Late Start” Wednesdays throughout the course of the school year. These Wednesdays are noted on the district calendar linked here. On these days, school for students starts at 11:05am and ends at 3:10pm. Thank you for supporting our professional learning and growth as a staff!
Warmly,
Amanda

Hello Eagle Crest Families!
It has been a fantastic and busy week at Eagle Crest! One of the most amazing things happening in our building these last two weeks has been the iPad Refresh! Mrs. Schwirtz and Mrs. Beckett have already swapped out over 350 iPads! They are wrapping up 1st and 2nd Grade and will move on to Kindergarten iPads soon. We are very grateful for their hard work and organization to complete a project of this magnitude!
Now that most students have their brand new devices, it is extremely important that EVERY student is enrolled in the iPad Insurance Program. It costs $25 per student. Without insurance, a broken iPad could cost your family around $236 and a lost iPad would cost $473.
You can pay for insurance within your Infinite Campus Portal or on RevTrak. If you need help accessing these accounts or need to set up a payment plan, contact the front office. Deadline for Insurance Sign-Up: September 10th
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students

Mwebaza Sister School Update
Welcome back to school Eagle Crest! Although we would love for the Annex kids to be back in school again, sitting at their desks, learning and having fun, they are still not able to do that in Uganda. But we have some exciting news! On Monday we had a meeting with our partner school’s Headmistress (that means the school’s principal). She told us that the students are now being supplied with lessons and materials from the teachers so they can learn at home. Isn’t that exciting? It’s great to know that they are now able to continue learning at home, while it’s possible that some students might be able to return to in person school toward the end of September!
At Eagle Crest, all kids in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will have the opportunity to join this year’s Mwebaza Annex Club that focuses on partnership between Eagle Crest and Mwebaza Annex. Each 3rd - 5th grade class will learn more about the Club and how to register in about 2 weeks. The club is a great opportunity to learn about our friends in Uganda and for them to learn about you. See you soon!

Our Music, PE, and Art classes are on a 3 day rotation. Each day we have school is either a Red, Gold, or Purple day. These colors are shared on our school lunch menu to help families plan ahead for necessary supplies like sneakers for PE.
