Picture Retake Day is Wednesday, October 13th!
If you missed the picture day this summer or you would like to have a retake of the pictures taken this summer, retake day is Wednesday, October 13th. The photographer will start with the 4K students at 9 am.

Traffic Thank You!!
Thank you, also, for sharing the new patterns with the other friends and family who pick up your children. Our set up can be confusing for visitors while our signage is still being installed.
During drop off and pick up times, please do not use the crosswalk that cuts across to the center of the circle drive. When we send cars from the parent drop off line, pedestrians end up stopping that traffic flow. The safest crosswalk is the one just off of the drop off line where we have staff controlling the traffic and pedestrians.
Students have been very busy building community and practicing routines in the art room the first two weeks of school. We have been using our sketchbooks and developing a growth mindset with our drawing practice. Students have read the book, “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds and are creating a collaborative piece of work in the art hall. We’d love to celebrate DOT DAY on Wednesday September 15th by encouraging staff and students to wear dots and make their mark with our first fun spirit day!
Blessings in a Backpack
Next Friday, your child will come home with a package of food. These packages are delivered at no charge to all families. If you would like to continue to get these food items each week, they will just continue to show up in your child's backpack each Friday. If your family would like to opt out of these food deliveries, there is a form for you to complete and return AFTER the first week's deliveries.
Thank you to Andy Vossekuil for setting this up and coordinating the ordering of staff spirt wear --all staff received a Hillcrest t-shirt to begin the year as a gift from PTO!

New to events:
Culver's Nights are monthly and Culver's donates a portion of their sale to our PTO during the timeframe of 5 to 8 pm on Culver's nights. You do not need to mention Hillcrest. Dine in, carryout or drive through all count!
PTO Meetings are monthly, held in the library (or you can join at sdw.webex.com/meet/nzeroth). Events are discussed, Mrs. Lincicum provides a school update and classroom funding is reviewed. Staff members attend as well so a great way to meet not only other families but staff too! A full budget review will be done at the September meeting.
PTO Fundraisers: PTO budgets to provide $18,000 annually to support our school community. Support includes annual classroom allotments to teachers and support staff (for new apps, for additional classroom activities, for learning activities, etc.), larger items for the school (looking at air purifiers this year, last year was library furniture), free family activities (like the open house fun) and so much more. In order to support this budget, PTO runs fundraising events throughout the year. The 3 photos above are all items fundraised for in 2020!
This months fundraising event is also a family night, Skateland on 23rd. Information on events and fundraisers are provided in this monthly newsletter.
We need you! PTO has a board that supports the business part of PTO; however, events, activities and fundraisers can not be done without your help. This year many long time event and activity chair people will be in their final year at Hillcrest which means it's time for others to learn the ropes of planning! Most events and activities take a short amount of time to plan and most can be organized from home!
Activities looking to be co-chaired for this year to learn the ropes include Spirit Wear, Scrip Gift Card Program, Staff Gift Card Program, Holidays at Hillcrest (ticket sales), Read a Thon, JK Lee Afterschool Program, Student Directory, Conference meals, Craft & Vendor Fair, Minute to Win It, Fall Family Fest, Media (facebook & newsletters) & Day of Awesomeness.
