Kids Mercedes Marathon Information

Runners race packets will be sent home on Monday. Please read the Race Day Instructions in the packet. If you provided an email when you registered an email with a link provided gives you all the updated information on the new race route as well as parking suggestions. Due to the interstate construction, the race is NOT at Linn Park. The start and finish line are now at Railroad Park. This new route is very safe and secure! We are looking forward to it not being so windy as it always is between the tall buildings.

Please email me with any questions you have! We have 150 students registered to run! That is very exciting! Several of the Greystone staff come to cheer on our runners.

Thank you,

Leta Hoit

Support Our Cafeteria!

Did you know that our cafeteria is funded through participation?

We want to continue to have delicious food, many choices, and the wonderful 5 ladies who make sure our children have a healthy breakfast and lunch each day.

You can help by coming to have breakfast or lunch with your child and purchasing your meal in our cafeteria. You can also help by encouraging your child to eat at school.

Our goal is to have an increase in the number of students participating in our meal program during the month of January.

Will you help us meet this goal?

Meet Our PTA: Whitney Wilson

Big picture

Hello, Greystone family my name is Whitney Wilson and I, along with Ashley Hibbard, am one of your Volunteer Coordinators this year. The parent volunteers at GSES are amazing and we want to thank you for all that you have participated in this school year. There are many ways to volunteer we often need people to help out at the school with various events, front office workers, special lunch events, and helping in classrooms. However, others have volunteered buy purchasing and sending in items for teachers, events, and classrooms. This is part of the puzzle that makes GSES the awesome school that it is. So please don’t run if you see Ashley or myself coming we will never ask you to do something that isn’t rewarding for you or your family!!

My husband Paul and I have lived in Greystone two different times now. Our son Jake is a 10th grader at SPHS and he attended GSES in K and 1st grade before we moved to Peachtree City, Ga for 3 years. When we had the opportunity to move back we did and once again chose Greystone to be our home. Jake finished 5th grade at GSES and on to BMS and SPHS he went. He is a member of the SPHS tennis team of which I am a Booster Club parent. I was involved with the BMS PTO as a spirit wear coordinator and also involved with the SPHS PTSO. Currently, I volunteer at SPHS in the guidance office and enjoy seeing the inter-workings of our schools.

Our daughter Stella is in 4th grade at GSES and she loves schools. She is a cheerleader with Hoover Rec and enjoys singing, dancing and playing tennis. GSES has given her many opportunities to participate in things she enjoys and promotes her learning in these areas. Stella is on the tech team, safety patrol, first priority, and jumping jags.

The PTA works hard to make our school a better place we have provided grants and items that continue to promote and enhance the learning environment at GSES and we couldn’t have done that without your help so THANK YOU! Lastly, my advice for you is to come to a meeting if you ever are available and you will see just how much planning and organizing goes into making GSES what it is today. We would love to have you and can find a spot for you to volunteer I’m sure- haha. GO JAGS!!!

Implementation of Erin's Law

Attention All Parents: To comply with Erin’s Law, HCS school counselors and administrators have created a plan to provide basic child sexual abuse prevention lessons for students. We have prepared a brief video that outlines plans for elementary, middle and high school levels. You will find more detailed information on HCS’s plan to implement Erin’s Law, including the option for your child to opt out of these lessons if you so choose. This information is also available in Spanish. Disclaimer: If you need alternate accommodations in accessing the video content, please contact Marley Stephens at
