Roynon Raccoon Report
April Newsletter All About Roynon
A Message from Roynon's Principal
It is hard to believe that two/thirds of the school year is already behind us. Our students have been busy learning about academics and expanding their social emotional learning skills over the last eight months. Morning messages each day have focused on the 7 Habits of Healthy Kids by Sean Covey. We can happily say that our students are now familiar with all seven and we will officially be a Leader in Me School for the 2019-2020 school year. This is an exciting time for our Roynon Raccoon community. Our students and staff have much to be proud of and many reasons to finish strong. Please plan on attending our Open House the evening of May 23rd to celebrate your child's success.
I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who supported PTA's second annual Roynon Raccoon Run. The day was a huge success. We could not have done it without the parent volunteers who helped plan the event and those that came out to help on the day of the Run. This Friday, April 12th, is the last day for students to turn in donations to be counted towards student prizes. Donations can be dropped off in the office or made online at https://99pledges.com/fund/roynonraccoonrun2019
Looking ahead, our first annual Spring Fling, which is replacing our Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dances this year, is scheduled for this Friday, April 12th. Tickets can still be purchased in the office. Next week members of our staff will be serving up food at McDonald's on Wednesday, April 17th from 4-8pm. Come visit us. Staff Appreciation Week will be celebrated at Roynon during the week of May 6 -10. In addition, our state testing known as the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, CAASPP, for grades 3 - 5, will take place during the weeks of April 22 - May 17.
More information can be found below regarding our CAASPP, also know as Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments. It is very important that students in 3rd - 5th grade make every attempt to be at school and on time each day of testing.
