!!! IMPORTANT !!!
PowerSchool Parent Portal
The office sent home to letters this week about how to set up an account for you to access grades and attendance within PowerSchool. We have not had good participation with this. It is important for you to understand that you will not receive closure and delay information (and other important information) unless you complete this task. Also, if any of your contact information changes throughout the year, you will need to update it in the system in order to receive communications such as these.
School Smiles
School Smiles will be providing an on-site dental care service for our students on Thursday, October 11, 2018. If you want your child to participate in this program, please complete the form found in your child’s Friday folder and return by Friday, September 28th.
Call the nurse at 458-5521 if you have questions.
Mastering the Math Facts
We now have many students who've passed the addition portion of math facts. Way to go! Of those students, several are dangerously close to passing their subtraction timed tests. How is your child progressing? We do math facts practice here at school every day, but let's make moving through those addition and subtraction facts an at-home priority, too. Remember, the goal for 2nd grade is 50 addition and then 50 subtraction facts in 2 1/2 minutes.
Library Change
As you know, we typically go to the library on Wednesdays, but Mrs. Grissom must be out of the building on this day (this upcoming week only). She has rescheduled us to visit on Tuesday. We started out being very responsible about returning borrowed books on time, but a few students have slacked off a bit. Thank you for reinforcing this at home.
Box Tops for Education
Please continue clipping those Box Tops for Education. Remember...we are trying to win an all-school competition! Our school gains a lot financially from this easy endeavor. Don't forget to tell family and friends to help your child out with this. Click here to find participating products with Box Tops on them, or to print a complete listing of participating products. Thank you for your kind assistance with this.
Next Week's Share Topic: A Sense of Fall
Can you believe that Saturday will be the first day of autumn? Using our senses, in what ways do we know that fall has arrived? What smells do we smell? What sounds do we hear? What things do we see, taste or touch?
Enclosed in this week's Friday folder, you will find the October share topic schedule. Remember...these weekly topics are not optional. Participation in the oral share topics ensures students have the skills necessary to meet the Indiana academic learning outcomes for speaking and listening.
